Portable Filing Cabinet

Featured Replies

I have looked in stationary stores including Office Depot in BBK, Korat, and Chiang Mai. I have been unable to find a simple portable filing cabinet that will hold hanging file folders.

I figured that I'd just order them from Amazon and have them shipped, but Amazon will not ship these items to Thailand. They won't ship the box and they will not ship common, everyday hanging file folders??????

I am totally confused. Is there some obscure law here in Thailand that makes it illegal to own a plastic, portable box capable of holding letter sized hanging file folders. Is it a criminal act to ship a pack of hanging file folders from a foreign country to Thailand??? <deleted>?

Are these considered some sort of weapon? Even after living here over 5 year, there are some things that just totally baffle me, and this is one of them.

My only options are these flimsy accordion document holder that are too small to be of any use for filing my families personal documents, or to purchase a commercial metal filing cabinet which is total overkill for the amount of filing I need it for.

Why?????????

I have seen the plastic box style around, but not hanging I think.

I have made my own from the A-4 size cardboard "document safe" boxes, QBiz brand I think from Makro Office, I think 5 to a pack for a couple hundred baht.

Had some steel tubing bent and threaded to make folder hangars on the inside, duct-taped up the corners and sprayed the lot glossy black. Fit perfectly into those modular mesh shelving, have a wall-full behind my desk, easy to slide a box out and carry it wherever it's needed.

Looks good, they generally last at least a couple years of heavy use, much longer for the ones I rarely carry around, and very very cheap.

Thanks for the idea. I'm going to have a friend ship me these things and see if they make it through customs. I can't fathom why they wouldn't...But...This is Thailand! If I can't get them shipped, I'll use your idea for sure.

Next time I make up a batch, be happy to make a few more, probably B500 apiece would make it worth my while.
