Room could be useful. Possibly better than being homeless and at least having a roof over your head. But I can't help but think of the TV show Seinfeld adventure where Kramer is living in his Storage compartment place.

It may sound cheap but considering you can get an almost new room, fully furished, TV, Air Hot shower WiFi in a good area for 4,000

I'd be keen on something like this for my gik, where in Pattaya will I find such a dwelling ?

Off Soi Portisarn Naklua, many new places opened up around the mini Tops supermarket.

yep ur correct spoonman,

if ur wondering, the old aircon in the 2nd pic does not work.

With a good coat of paint and a floor job it might be livable..

This is false economy. You'd have to spend a lot of money to make that place liveable. Better to spend a bit more on rent on a place already set up.

One question, why on earth would anyone wish to stay in Thailand if they had to live like this?

Oh, there's a + side for the real Cheap Charlie's, judging by the OP you shouldn't need to worry about an alarm clock, it looks like your early morning call is included in the rate.whistling.gif

Sounds like a good weekend retreat during the winter season, but the hot season is the reason they want 1 year payment in advance! 12 k is better than 24 nights in a 500 baht hotel though right?

Never looked at it like that before, now you come to mention it, it does remind me of a second home on the French Riviera or in the Alps.cheesy.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gif

there is no 1k/m big rooms around soi Portisan,

try compare this place to an unfurnished condo in Nurin,

what would u pay there?

maybe 3k/m ?

there u only get 28m2,

these r much bigger 48m2, almost 2 condos in 1

Ok, I've just done a quick comparison against Nirun (Nurin) as you suggested, these are some of the differences that come to mind;

1) Some form of security

2) Use of a communal swimming pool

3) Shops, bars, and restaurants outside

4) Living within town, not 5km out

5) Living amongst other western expats / tourists

6) Probably air conditioning (based on my time there a few years back)

7) No early morning call

8) No need for own transport (or expensive taxi's)

  • 3 weeks later...

swimming pool aswell ?whistling.gif

  • 1 month later...

just amazes me no-one wants to take advantage of a huge 40M2 (8M2 front outside area) storage space for a measly 1k/m,

& it even has cable & a bathroom !

spose u guys like paying for overpriced storage space

so after posting this they may go very quickly,

so l expect if u read this a week or more after 25Oct'12 then most likely no longer available.

Guess you had the wrong expectation 2 months ago.

not even high enough to jump from, and believe me, living there it would be high on my list of things to do

Remember, when it comes to rental costs you'll also be paying for the quality of your neighbours. whistling.gif
