Hi everyone

I will be in Singapore next week and I need to apply for a tourist visa for Thailand. I am just looking at the form now and there is a section for a sponsor in Singapore and one in Thailand, of which I have neither. Am I right in guessing they are only relevant if I was applying for a work visa as it seems to be a generic form. If this is the case should my application be OK if I just leave these blank?

Many thanks.

Correct. You don't need a sponsor for a tourist visa. However, the Thai consulate in SG is somewhat notorious for wanton chicanery and I would avoid getting a Visa there if I have any other choice. Almost any consulate in the region, with the possible exception of HK, is easer to deal with.

Ok, thanks very much.

I have all the paperwork they ask for on their website and I have never had a tourist visa before, but I do have a couple of visa exemptions on arrival. Will this create difficulty do you think?

You should be ok with what you have. They do tend to frown on (read refuse) 2nd and 3rd consecutive tourist visas, but as far as I know they do not care about visa-exempt stamps.

To be on the safe side, don't show up at the consulate with a back-pack and cargo pants, as they seem to get especially creative with additional requirements when that happens.

Have a good trip! smile.png
