SATTAHIP:--Solar Air airlines will add new routes from U-Taphao airport to Siemreab and Chumphon airports beginning November 9. Great (excellent) news, crowd out the possibility of the US trying to use Utapao as an observation "weather station". Dorniers (not Dornia's) are a great little prop aircraft as well and I am sure the trips will almost be a worthwhile aerial viewing of the eastern side of Thailand as a day trip. Ideal for Visa runs too.

It will be interesting to see what the schedule and the fares look like....

Wish AirAsia would add Utapao sometime in my lifetime.. It'd save the 2 hour trip to BKK.

I started to use U-taphao when going to/from Phuket with BKK Airways and it's really convenient for me and my wife take the car back to Pattaya and pick me up again, only about 35km each way.

Last time I went, I checked in and the nice lady said, gate no 1 mister, LOL, there was only 2 domestic flights the whole day.

It just occured to me that

if an airline really

wanted to make a profit,

they could offer a

(reasonably-priced) once

or twice a week flight to

Clark in the Philipines.

Probably quite a few in

Pattya would like the

occasional change of scenery - ??

The OP suggests that Itthipol is now a Lord Mayor (Daily News) but Howard demotes him back to Mayor. So, has he been elevated to high office or what?
