Magic Trick With 6 Coins

Last visit to thailand. I was sitting next to a english man who was amusing the bar girls with a magic trick. I asked him after how it was done and he wouldnt tell me. This has been bugging me for a while now and would love to know how its done can anyone help?

This is the trick.

6 coins laid on a table, heads or tails facing up did not matter.

the coins were in 3 rows of 3.

1 coin, 1 coin, 1 coin

1 coin, 1 coin, 1 coin

1 coin, 1 coin, 1 coin

The trick was he walked away back turned, i touched a coin he came back and told me what one i touched.

I moved all the coins a little bit, so there was no pattern, he had no one around giving him the answer the wife made sure of this, no mirrors nothing. Yet he knew which one i had touched for my chosen coin!

Any ideas, its really bugging me!

He has a partner working on a code.....he comes back..partner has hand on bar indicates 1st row 2nd coin by showing 1 finger then 2 fingers discreetly on the bar top.....an old trick....

mind you the trick in this case is how did he arrange 6 coins in a 3x3 configuration.....that equals nine....

Why did you have to touch it? Why didn't he just say to mentally pick one out?

Seems like he's having someone relay to him which one you chose as already mentioned.

Next time just hover your hand over the coins and mentally pick one out and see what happens.

There was definately no communication between the two men i watched them for over half an hour. There was no one giving him a sign. This all took place in a friends bar so i knew most of the girls and i had 2 watching his mate 2 watching him to see if he looked when i touched the coins nothing. It was very clever. Have tried to look on magic web sites to see if there are instructions to do it and nothing.

I gave an example...it could be foot signals or whatever....there has to be a stooge...my mum did the same thing with a matchstick trick.....

the signage is discrete...and they use distraction techniques to take your attention away from the trick...and also there maybe more than one stooge...set up at the next bar even....

Mind Reading The Coin

This works best in medium/large groups, try when out with friends in a bar. For this you need a friend in on the trick. Line up 9 coins in a square 3x3 on the table.

Look away and invite someone to pick a coin by touching it. Next pick there coin by having a friend place there drink on a beer mat or coaster in the corresponding position top left top middle bottom right, middle middle etc.

For added effect stare into the persons eyes your mind reading..Get a couple of friends in on the trick to avoid suspicion.
