Good Outdoor/trekking Providers, Focused On Animals?

Featured Replies

Hey there!

Your forum was recommendet to me by one of your members (at least I suppose he is...), because I´m looking for some quite up-to-date informations.

Me and a friend will visit ChiangMai in late December (high season, viva...) and - after some sight seeing - I actually planed to go on ahead to the next spot, some days of birding, hiking and enjoying hinterland Thailand in the area of Doi Inthanon National Park. But as we are suppuosed to come back to Chiang Mai for our flight back to BKK anyway, I changed plans a bit.

Now I imagine that, instead of going for a complete new location, it could be both easier and more rewarding to store the heavier luggage in a hotel for some days and go for one of those 3days-2night-tourist-trekking-trips. The thing is, I´m not looking for the classic 15 minutes on the elephant´s back, lunch in a restaurant big enough for busses, snakes behind glass and a night in an oh-so-authentic hill tribe village hotel. First thing, I´m much more focused on animals and nature discovery than adventure. I don´t mind some Elephant riding and rafting, but it´s way beyond the important part. I also don´t mind spending a night in a nice village, but I´d also like doing the survival thing and spend the night in a self made shelter somewhere next to nowhere. So hiking, birding, seeing nice landscape, snakes without glass around and as most unspoiled thailand as possible - like probably everyone else, who organises his tour on oneself.

I know, this ideal Thailand Tour probably cost a fortune, if it exists at all, but at least looking for it is worth a try. And that´s where I need your help!

Do you know some of those tour organisers, tried them yourself or have heard something good about one of them?

Please let me know, if you have a hint for me or two!

Thank you a lot!

Cheers,

Der Ich

No suggestions at all?coffee1.gif

I have a pamphlet from a company/person called "Bushcraft Chiangmai Thailand".

It seems to offer what you are looking for, eg a 3 day stay in the Jungle, Survival skills etc.

No website, but 2 telephone numbers, 0801288799 and 082 3903796, his name is Go Hae.

No personal experience, just have his pamphlet.
