PATTAYA: -- Farmers saved a drowning calf from a storm drain on Sunday morning

A local farm worker heard the cries of the 6 month old calf as he passed an open drain on his way to work and alerted neighbours who gathered around the 10 ft deep drain. The calf, obviously in distress, was thrashing around in the dark waters of the storm drain having strayed from its small herd and fallen into the hole during the night.

Locals broke open the top of the storm drain to get better access and Medical services from Pattaya came to the scene to find locals had already managed to find a strong enough belt to hold the beast.which was fashioned into a recovery sling.

Despite its obvious fear, the sling was eventually wrapped around the animal and winched out with the aid of a localy owned tractor

Soon to appear in Issan ... requesting to be saved there also ... whistling.gif

Irony was that it was actually in Pattaya!

I like the guy on the right doing his best Crocodile Dundee impersonation ...

And the guy in the backgrond with his hands up saying ... no wait ... not enough photos yet.

Seriously though ... great outcome for the animial ... anyone wish to donate to it's recovery?

How did it get there in the first place - it says in the article they had to break into the storm drain so it didn't drop in from the top.

anyone wish to donate to it's recovery?

Ask any bg to ask one of her boyfriends, they are used to donate money for "sick buffaloes". smile.png

The next set of photos show the same cow being grilled, and steaks being handed out to the rescuers (along with a large Leo) as a reward for saving the cow's life.

How did it get there in the first place....

Itinerant scrap dealers collecting drain covers?

At least it was not a motorbike and rider as tends to happen here in the UK after the manhole and drain covers are pinched.

One very weird photo.

HA! I get it! High Steaks - drowning calf! HA!

Anyone else hear the faint rim shot from a snare drum in the background while reading the article?
