Rimmer Posted November 8, 2012 Posted November 8, 2012 Residents evacuated following Ammonia leak from Ice Factory in East Pattaya PATTAYA:--The emergency services were called into action late on Wednesday Night to respond to reports of a gas leak at an Ice Factory in East Pattaya. Medics from Banglamung Hospital, Firefighters and other Municipal Officials including the Mayor of Nongprue, Khun Mai, made their way to the Ice Factory, located in Soi Phon Prapha Nimit 8, the road running adjacent to Soi Siam Country Club. They were met by the Brother of the owner, Khun Sitipong aged 40, who confirmed that approximately 2,000 Litres of Ammonia had leaked from tanks at the factory and there was a fear that a lake located next to the factory had become contaminated. Medics attended to 10 local residents who appeared to be suffering from symptoms of exposure to the gas, including Nose and Eye irritation and vomiting. It was determined that no one required Hospitalization and all 10 residents were treated at the scene. The Brother of the Ice Factory Owner claimed that a gas leak had occurred earlier in the day but was apparently fixed. When the leak re-occurred later in the night, it was decided to call in the local authorities to assist in this potentially serious incident. As to locals in nearby housing, of course, the effect becomes minimal as it mixes with normal air and becomes an irritation. thats 1 scary video BTW
EarthAlien Posted November 8, 2012 Posted November 8, 2012 The emergency services were called into action late on Wednesday Night to respond to reports of a gas leak at an Ice Factory in East Pattaya. ....I wonder how the emergency services would respond to a leak at the mooted new nuclear plant the Plodprasob is determined to roll out?
Jayman Posted November 9, 2012 Posted November 9, 2012 (edited) Someone ends his life by jumping off the roof of a hotel and they will tell you his room number. A gas leak at a factory near a residential neighborhood and not so much as a street name mentioned. Oh but thanks for telling us a "lake" might be contaminated. Very helpful indeed. Note to self: Avoid all lakes in Pattaya. The reporting that we are exposed to on this board is total crap. Edited November 9, 2012 by Jayman 1
FOODLOVER Posted November 9, 2012 Posted November 9, 2012 So there are tanks of this deadly gas all over Pattaya and no one has a clue how to handle it. Lovely. Where does one purchase gas masks?
