Housebook = Blue

Featured Replies

Usually Farangs can obtain a "yellow" House Book (Tabien Baan). Wife has Blue Tabien Baan and wants me to be in the same Blue House Book with her name next to mine. According to her: Much better for you than only "yellow-book" She also says, that the "pooh yai baan" would support this. How nice.

What concrete advantages would I have by being registered in the Blue Book instead of the Yellow Book ?

Thanks & cheers.

You don't mention your immigration status, but only Thai citizens and aliens with PR can be placed in the Blue Tabien Baan. If you qualify, I recommend you proceed with putting your name in the wife's Blue Tabien Baan. That is the most recognized and required document for many functions with the government. The Yellow Tabien Baan technically is the same thing as the Blue one (only for aliens), but my experience has been that many places will not accept the Yellow one as readily as the Blue one. If you live in the provinces or a small village, many officals ae not aware of the Yellow Tabien Baan.

Anyway it's not an optional thing. If you are a Thai citizen or an alien with PR you must have your name in a blue Tabien Baan. If you are nether of those, you can't.

Whereas if you are an Alien without PR then having your name in a yellow Tabien Baan is optional.

And being on the yellow tabien baan is necesarry to apply for Thai nationality, if you are married to Thai and want to skip PR.

I got my yellow book in half an hour here in Cha-am.

Interesting point this house book.

10 years in nongkhai....no problems whatsoever untill.....................

a week ago i wanted to transfer, my city car to my wife...(Lao)

We, wife , me and the kids, are in the yellowbook......the procedure didn't took long...all set at 2 pm

I came and pick up the book and for some odd reason..the new female boss at the autoregistration office NongKhai got involved.

started to mumble something like "NO ownership possible for Lao people"

Rubbish, so i let her call immigration.....oeps big mistake....she lost face.and trouble began

I had to go to immigration to confirm my houseregistration and let a Thai National become "witness"

Immigration hadn't the flawest of ideas what she was talking about.......so i went back and cancelled my transfer and the car is till on my name...

I was not in the mood to be pushed around just because she, the boss didn't recognize a yellow book. OK

this wednesday i came in again to transfer a motorcycle , just bought from a Thai national to my name...and?????????

for sure and for hold , i had to go to immigration again....she called them first.......had to wait for 4 hours...came back with a letter from immigration (have a copy made) and the Thai party had to sign a whole lot of documents at immigration to get me this letter.

The letter merely states that i am truly residing at my adress and have the necessary visas and documentation.

So to the point...at least in Nongkhai a houseregistration book needs to be certified by immigration WITH thai witness in order to be owner of a vehicle.

To me......complete rubbish...to them? FUN.

Don't worry it's not only you. The land transportation department is known for making idiotic demands for documentation they don't understand. I never go there myself. Always send a messenger so that though they can waste his time - and theirs - they can't waste much of mine.
