Non-Immigrant B And O And Re-Entry Permits

Featured Replies

Hello -

Am about to extend our 90-day non-immigrant visas based on my work permit. What does this extension mean in terms of going in and out of Thailand? We have 4 trips planned over the Dec-Feb period leaving the country. This is what I understand from what I've read - could someone confirm?

  • We have to get a re-entry permit each time we want to leave - 2000 a pop per person
  • These can be purchased at either Don Muang or Suvarnabumi
  • There's also a 3800 multiple entry option (at the airports?)

What happens if you don't get the re-entry permit? Do they revoke the non-immigrant visa?

I'm just wondering if it's worth spending the money getting re-entry permits for the whole family.

Can someone advise?

Much thanks.

The cost is 1,000 baht each (or 200 more at Suvarnabumi as they make copies/photo). And there is a multi version at 3,800 baht.

You must have such for return when on any extension of stay or single entry visa to return/continue. Without the extension ends when you leave.

As Lopburi states without a re-entry permit you lose your Extensions, thus making you do the whole load of walking around and getting the paperwork done again.

Save yourself the time and energy get multi re-entry permits

rolleyes.gif Exit re-entry permits are best purchased at the same place where and when you do your work permit Non immigrant B visa extension.

In Bangkok that would normally be at Chaeng Wattana or through that "one stop" center if you use that for your WP.

You can purchase a exit re-entry permit at Suvarnabumi but that is not a 24 hour operation....there is a desk there that sells them but it is open only daytime hours. So if you intend to get one at Suvarnabumi, you must be sure you are flying daytime flights only.

I do not know if there is a similar desk at Don Mueng operating yet....because DM has only recently re-opened.

An exit re-entry permit basically keeps your extemsion "alive"....without one your extension of stay in-country ends when you depart Thailand (because when you leave, you're are no longer "in country").

That's why you need an exit re-entry permit when your on an in-country extension....to leave and re-enter Thailand.

The cost of the permit is 1000 Baht for a SINGLE exit re-entry, an 3800 baht for MULTI re-entry.

Both of them are valid for the period of the extension of your visa.

In the case you mentioned, planning 4 departures and returns during your extension, the multi exit re-entry would be best suited to your plans.

As I said, if you are getting the extension of your visa at Chaeng Wattana anyhow, it simply makes sense to get the exit re-entry at the same time there.

Thanks all for your replies. Had to go today and didn't have the cash so will make another trip to get the re-entry permits. Do you know if everyone has to go in person to get them i.e. my whole family too?

I also found out when I extended my non-immigrant B that my family was able to extend at the same time with me rather than getting a different number and waiting in the non-immigrant O section. We found this out the hard way!

Your children probably would not have to go but the wife would.

Bangkok immigration has an online queue for re-entry permits which should save some time.
