30 mins.ago there was one hell of a scrap in our garden,my beloved was chasing a mongoose, caught it twice and the second time it locked its teeth on his nose which made him drop it.we had one hell of a job to restrain him and get him in the house, knowing that these will kill a cobra i was concerned that it would rip his face has anyone else had an encounter with one of these the look of him bearing his teeth made my heart miss a beat or two.

rabies and infection would be my first concern... second, dogs should never scrap with a weasel mongoose or even ferret.... they are carnivores, with carnivore teeth: the puncture wound is deep, wide in the inside of the wound, and narrow on the top= infection... and noses are usually the receiving end.... most smart dogs learn to leave thses animals alone, quickly. a mongoose wont attack a dog if it doesnt get involved in its business but if cornered or chased or with kits, war for sure.

they mightn ot kill him but they certainly will do major damage.rats are also on that hit list of things dogs should avoid hunting. my lhasa had a meet up witha cornered rat in the house.. but fortunately he had enough sense to back off and not get involved.

I'm glad you clarified who was chasing what. For a time I thought your girlfriend had gone nuts...

if it had been my wf i know better not to mess with her, bina he did get bitten on the nose so we called the vet straight away but as he has his jabs against rabies he said not to worry ,since it happened he has not stopped looking for it.the yam took it away but it was in a bad way, such a shame as it looked a loverly creature.my wfs grandparents kept one so she was concerned for its wellbeing.i will check tomorrow.

Some dogs are natural ratters, and they deal with the rat so quickly that the risk of a bite is small. Some years ago, my Bangkaew cornered a rat in my house in Chiangmai... a quick lunge, one dead rat. Bangkaews are very quick! That said, the risk is still there.

the rat was practically the size of the lhasa, and lhasas are not rat terriers, their faces are not made to grab and shake (they are bit like shitzus in facial shape).... we would ahve just had a badly bitten lhasa...

of course bankews will kill rats, so will other 'primitive' type dogs and rat terrier types...

why kind of dog is yours meatboyh?
