November 14, 201213 yr I lost my U.S. passport when I arrived back in Thailand from Singapore the other day. I've already gone through the process to get a new one and hopefully I should have that within a couple of weeks time. My issue/question I have is this. I had a non-b visa that ended prior to me going to Singapore. Upon arrival I just got the 30 day exemption stamp. Once I get the new passport I'll go to immigration and get the entry stamped put back in. That's all well and good. But over the last year I have had a lot of different visas (non-b, 1 single entry tourist visa, and quite a few 15 day exemption stamps from border runs) that were stamped in my old passport. I was getting to the point that if I tried to get another Tourist Visa I would run the risk of being rejected. Right now I'm finished working and wanted to stay in Thailand until about March so I wanted to try and get a new Tourist Visa. Does immigration approve a visa based on thumbing through your passport and seeing what's already stamped previously or do they actually make that call based on what is in the computer system and will reject it if a lot shows up? It seems every time I've been through Thai immigration they don't seem too concerned with what's on the computer but mostly just scan through the passport to see the past activity. Not sure if a Thai consulate would be the same. So basically what I'm asking is with a new/clean U.S. passport do you foresee any problems obtaining a Double Entry Tourist Visa that can last me a few more months here in Thailand?
November 14, 201213 yr You should not have a problem getting a tourist visa. Be sure you take the police report and letter from embassy with you when you go to immigration. Also fill in this form: Lost or Stolen Passport Form
November 14, 201213 yr Author Thanks for the quick reply and link for the form. I appreciate it... Just to clear something up. You're saying take the police report and letter from the embassy to immigration when I get the current 30 day entry stamp put back in, right? Or are you saying I need to take that stuff with me when I go to Laos to get the Tourist Visa as well? Thanks again for your advice.
November 14, 201213 yr When you go to Immigration. Also If you have copies of your old passport it would also be good to have them. You will also need copy of new passport which I forgot to mention.
