I have a 5 month old S3, it started not charging completely and sometimes not at all a few weeks ago. Then it wouldn't turn on at all! I had to make an overnight trek to Korat as I teach in a small town outside of Buriram to Samsungs service centre there only to be given a software upgrade and sent on my way. I remember being surprised that the fix was that easy and I was lucky to not have to leave my phone there for a few weeks whilst they diagnosed the problem.

Suffice it to say, the problem has returned and I now do not know what my best approach is. It's not like I can just nip down there after work and get them to look at it, it's quite a journey for me.

Has anybody else been experiencing similair difficulties? I've been to a few on-line forums and it does seem to be a pretty common problem?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Dtac, who I bought the phone from, were absolutely useless. After making me stand around in their service centre in Korat for an hour they promptly redirected me to Samsung themselves.

Regards,

Graham

I had the same problem with my S3 a few weeks ago. It was not charging anymore and the battery therefore was totally empty so it would not start anymore. I took it to the shop where I had bought it about 4 months earlier. They checked everything but then they had to send it to a Samsung Service Center in Suratthani. It took them about 3 weeks to repair it. Apparently there was something wrong with the socket of the micro plug. Maybe some broken contact or something like that. After more than 3 weeks I got my phone back and it was working fine after that. They told me to treat the socket very carefully when plugging the charging cable in....

I constantly warn you folks on here about Samsung problems. At least you still have a warranty. These problems typically arise in the 13th month. I have a crystal ball: You will keep getting quick (and frustrating) fixes from Samsung until the warranty is gone. Then they will suggest that you should buy a newer model. I wish you luck, my friend.

Samsung is not my favorite brand name. I look at different products and buy whichever one looks best to me. After I thought about this, I was actually amazed with the number of Samsung items we have. Air Con, microwave, TV, Two computer monitors, Two phones and recently a new washing machine for the condo. My wife says the new Samsung washing machine is much better than her LG at home. If a product fails early, I would be gun shy of buying another of the same brand. So far I am not afraid to buy any Samsung product.
