Xmas has been cancelled this year by order of the Culture Ministry. It is after-all a Buddhist country. There will be no Xmas carols at Central nor big gaudy Xmas trees and farang pubs will not be able to charge exorbitant prices for a plate of poultry with some spuds and a few boiled vegetables.

How about 12/31 celebrations? Two years there was a big countdown at Thapae with fireworks.

And thosands of people. Is that a yearly event?

Missed it last year as I had to work. (Sapporo) Japan sucks for New Years, most people stay home.
