Ideas For Birthday Gift Please

Featured Replies

dear friends

I need advise from you lovely ladies please.

I need idea for what to buy for my boyfriend birthday. I am not very good with what to buy for a man. for women there are many things possible.

Some info, we are dating, but not long time yet. But it is his big birthday. So it is a bit dilemma for me. I want to find him something nice. but because we are still new date, I dont want the gift to be too much?

so please help me.

he is a farang man, so I think maybe some friends here will have some nice ideas for me.

about him and what he likes? He is same as most men, like to drink beer and watch sports :) he like to enjoy good food and he like nice shirts (but has many of them already).

thank you for all ideas.

As l am a farang, anything will be appreciated. We are easy. Try taking him to his favourite food restaurant paid for by you. thumbsup.gif

What is your budget ?

ideas:

A Vitrinox penknife might be appreciated... or a leatherman type tool.

A Bottle of Whisky.

Nice Wine Opener (if he drinks wine)

A Nice Wallet

A decent belt

Decent headphones (useful if he travels a lot)

BB Gun

Mini-remote control helicopter...

The list is endless and only limited by budget...

Hmmmmmmmm, l like ''nice'' T shirts, but thats me. Whats his hobby, perhaps from his past ? A T shirt with something to do with his hobby is GREAT. Good luck. smile.png

a hooker?

not a serious suggestion, just indulging a semper moment.

how about a cool set of high end flip flops, good sunglasses (purchased some where with a big selection so he can change them if he doesn't like them).

things like the flip flops, which i really appreciate ar stuff i look at in the shops or see others wearing and think "i like" but never get around to picking up for myself.

thing is i am always pointing out stuff i like to my partners women, shirts jeans, shoes etc that we see on others when we are out together.

some good ideas. not all that I can do.

but what is BB gun?

I will write short list after I read more suggestions.

budget, well, i dont know yet. I dont want too much expensive (eg I know he will love new phone...), but the ideas you give is good. things for daily use, just a bit more good brands or high end like khun tinfoil say.

flipflop difficult because I not know his size

sunglasses, very difficult to choose

mini helicopter I like idea, men toy :) but not sure he like or not? He play a little bit game on net, but not a lot.

(this topic make me remember I still dont know him too much)

Phones, sunglasses are all personal choices, l think. Thats why l suggested the ''cheapish'' T shirt. We wear them all the time. thumbsup.gif

You wearing a nurses uniform.

(That's not being too naughty for this section, is it?)

well i was walking around a winery not long ago and sampled some chocolate port and some really nice whisky here in Australia so i decided to buy a 12 bottle box of each , i think a bottle of fine whisky for a man and perhaps a bottle of chocolate port for a lady would make a ok xmas present .

Maybe an electric Braun toothbrush?

Maybe an electric Braun toothbrush?

Noooooooooooooooooooooooo, might give the wrong message. laugh.png

I received this a few months back and loved it - one of the best gifts I've received because a lot of effort and thought went into it. I'm not a coffee drinker but am almost a convert now.

On top of the French Press, 4 or 5 different flavours/strengths of coffee and a bottle of booze to make Irish coffee.

Edit: I should have mentioned you can find a french press for a lot less money the ones at verasu are top end and expensive.

I'd go with the headphones....or a bamboo pipe....but then that's just me. :P

Good flip flops are always welcome...but how about some good quality shorts for the beach?

Maybe a nice hint that you want a holiday? :D

A good Swiss watch? Breitling?

Brietling? i dont know how much but i think very expensive?

I dont date this guy for very long. so even if I have lots of money (I dont) maybe not good to give this kind expensive gift so early? what do you all think

but anyway, I cannot buy :)

shorts and flip flops - is good can use, but not romantic?

what is a bamboo pipe?

coffee machine - good, but hard to carry (he is travel a lot)

whiskey and port also nice. men like port or not?

if no whiskey, wine ok?

wallet as K richard suggest also possible

I will think some more and also check price. I like the mini copter toy. where can I buy

All the men I know like knives. Richard Smith's idea of a Victorianox penknife is a good idea and it stays within the pocket book. If you do choose a Victorianox knife don't make it a big one with too many tools. A simple one is best with just 2 blades and a cork screw. My ex had a different knife for every occasion. Even I have a few penknives. The multi-tools are also a good idea and they vary in price. Basically, a gift at this stage is just a good natured gesture and should be kept simple. Anything will be appreciated coming from you, but Flip flops are a downer. So are ties and socks. Watches are too expensive, and so are good quality sunglasses.

if he likes all those gadgets, then gadget stuff (new case for smartphone or whatever, does he use business cards, then a personalized card holder, or a goofy tshirt (if he likes sports than some kind of sports motif on the shirt), or-

a day doing what he likes to do even if u hate it like fishing, or going to a boxing event or sports event

...

if u dont know him that well, then less personal (no wierd underwear), and more neutral things, even a silk tie if he actually uses them ... or a individualized key chain plus a small bottle of cologne or whiskey...

frankly, my husband would settle for tools (drill and all that stuff), like a good quality set of screwdrivers, or soemthing...

and/or a hatchery for his chicken eggs....

men are a pain in the ass basically

That doesn't sound too romantic, Bina. Men are just more practical than us gals. You have to beat them at their own game.

I just buy hubby fishing stuff and hes super happy. Go with a hobby, gadgety stuff is a good idea if hes into gadgets.

does he wear cologne? If so, I would recommend that. 1000-1500 baht for a small bottle of name brand cologne, and it will be something that will last a long time and remind him of you everytime he uses it. I have 3 bottles from three different g/fs (over a period of 5 years) and I love them. If he doesn't wear cologne, go for a cool beer mug. You can get some funny/interesting beer glasses/mugs at "Betrend" and "Propaganda".

BUT, HE knows you can buy the same cologne stuff at Chong Mek for 10bht a gallon. laugh.png

hello everyone

i want to say thank you for all advice

I bought him headphone to use with his ipod and computer. he likes music and I hope he enjoy the new headphone but not put too loud cos bad for his hearing :)

I'm usually happy whatever my wife buys, as long as it looks like she's thought about it and made an effort, as they say it's the thought that counts. There aren't many material things that I really want these days that I don't have.

More important is a nice meal out for two with a good bottle of wine or so in a restaurant that's a little special and different than usual or where we don't go often. After that back home... some nice silk/smooth nightwear and lights out.... the best gifts are often memories.

I know very few guys that would actually complain if the better half just wrapped herself up in nothing but a big silk or satin bow, dimmed the lights a little and then asked him to come in. No need to spend money..... :)
