BANGKOK: -- Anti-government Pitak Siam group reaffirmed that its rally tomorrow will be peaceful and more than 500,000 protesters are expected to turn up at the rally site.

Japanese Man Dies like a Samurai In Surat Thani

A 30-year-old Japanese tourist visiting Surat Thani apparently committed a ritualistic hara-kiri suicide by stabbing himself in the stomach in his hotel room. Police believe he had been pickpocketed, and speculated that the disturbed foreigner decide to die by the traditional way of the Samurai.

Sanan resuscitated, admitted to Siriraj

BANGKOK: -- Chart Thai Pattana Party chief advisor Sanan Kachornprasart stopped breathing and was rushed to a Bangkok hospital early Thursday.

He suffered from emphysema and had to be resuscitated at the Nonthavej Hospital before he was forwarded to Siriraj and where he was admitted at 2 pm Thursday to the respiratory care unit.

Industrial confidence down for fifth month, FTI finds

BANGKOK: -- The Industrial Confidence Index fell for the fifth consecutive month in October, to 93 points, the lowest level since last December.

Payungsak Chartsutipol, chairman of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), which conducted the survey to compile the index, said the figure reflected the poor state of business operators' confidence, influenced by rises in raw-material prices, wages and electricity charges. Export-oriented manufacturers also suffered from weak demand overseas.
