Thais Need An Independent Consumer Protection Agency

There is actually a pretty toothless Consumer Protection Agency here already. Myslf and a couple of other "investors" were scammed out of property by a developer. We all won our cases, cases were appealed and the developer lost these appeals. How much money did we all get? After 4 years?

Well, zilch actually

Question please: were the developers Thai? Or from another country in the region? Just curious.

Thailand doesn't have an organization like UL (underwriter's lab) which tests/certifies electrical things. It also doesn't have ratings for different types of plastic - to ease in recycling and to help educate people about plastics. For example, some plastics are carcinogens and harmful to babies and pregnant mothers, others; less so. Thailand has a paucity of animal shelters for abandoned pets. Thailand doesn't have any noise pollution standards which are enforced.

As for products, if you buy a small carton of yogurt, you'll be lucky if it's 65% full. No excuses for 'settling' because liquids don't settle. Even worse is a type of white glue sold in gallon containers. The glue is in a plastic bag, and you'll be lucky to get 30% a container's worth of glue, yet the customer thinks she's paying for a gallon of the stuff. Similar consumer rip-offs could fill a book. ...and a Thai person would never formally complain about such things. As usual, it will have to be up to farang to raise a fuss.

Thailand Consumer protection along with customer service sucks, and until Thais stand up and do something about it in big enough numbers nothing will change , if proof were ever needed that Thailand is a Pseudo democratic country this is another example
