Rimmer
Englishman’s drunk son wrecks car in Pattaya Pattaya: Former police Officer’s home ram raided by drunk driver. At five in the morning on Sunday, a former Policemen was woken up from a deep sleep by the sound of crashing steel. Looking out from his Banglamung Home, he saw that a Black Toyota Altis was now firmly embedded in his steel gate, which was now removed from its mountings and lying in his drive. Not knowing who the assailant was, he quickly called the Police who rushed to the scene. Mark Michael Black, a 26 year old Thai, whose father is British, is said to have been totally drunk when he crawled from his car with minor head injuries. As it is, the drunk man didn’t even know the home owner, but instead had crashed his car as he lost control at a considerable speed. Emergency services took care of his head wounds before removing him to a local hospital for treatment. After the event, his girlfriend approached the scene, which would normally be seen as a pleasant and supportive move, however in this instance, our inebriated hero is said to have jumped out of the ambulance and entered into a serious argument with her, which had to be broken up by the attending policemen. Mr. Black said that he has an apartment in Pattaya and in the evening he and the young lady had been visiting a friend on Soi Chayabruk where they had drunk whisky. He admitted that he got drunk and ended up having a volatile argument with his girlfriend, which escalated to such heights that his drinking pals left them to it and he found himself alone. Initially he and his girl got into the car with her driving, but yet another argument started as she drove. He dumped her on the roadside and called her friends to come and collect her, taking control of the car himself, he drove off, in an obviously befuddled state and smacked it full force into the gate. After the impact he called… his girlfriend again, to ask her to come and help him. R123
What an unpleasant and selfish idiot! Lets' hope he gets severely punished. Doubtful as money talks. I hope his family are ashamed of his behaviour as being the kind of odious person he must be, he does not give a dam_n.

manarak
I nominate that for being the worst written press article of the year. Contradictions in the same sentence (embedded or lying on the ground?) Sensationalism (trying to mix the police, foreigners and a ram raid in the same story) Totally useless details (why does it matter that the house owner is a former policeman?) Mislabeling of events (ram raid? a raid is intentional!)

Potosi
And why does it matter that he was the son of an Englishman, more sensationalism in reporting, what quality press we have. No sensationalism at all. With this name, the nationality must be clarified. They always report name and nationality anyway.
Briggsy
They need to bring in national service to instil some discipline in today's Thai youth. Oh, they already have. Well, we need more conscription. A 2-year spell in the army cleaning lavatories would sort him out.
Spalpeen
It's sometimes said that Pattaya is a place where the worst kind of foreigners meet the worst kind of Thais. And then there's the result of their meeting. Looking through the current crop of headlines it struck me that if it wasn't for the British and Russians there'd be almost no headlines in Pattaya. No sensationalism at all. With this name, the nationality must be clarified. They always report name and nationality anyway. And the relevance of the fathers nationality was ........... Nationality of the driver was Thai. Just another example of racist scumbag reporting. Edited December 9, 2012 by TommoPhysicist
Rimmer
Thai-Brit in drunken road crash in front of retired Police Officers house in Jomtien A 25 year old man of Thai and British Nationality was involved in an early morning road crash which destroyed the front gate of a house belonging to a retired Police Officer. The driver of the car was lucky to escape with relatively minor head injuries, according to Police who later arrested the driver. Mr. Mark Michael Black is reported to have driven his Black Toyota Altis into the front gate of a house located in Soi Watboon 12 in Jomtien just before 5am on Sunday following a heated argued with his girlfriend who was left on the street nearby as Mr. Black drove off. She returned to meet Mr. Black at the crash scene and the argument continued as Police looked on, deciding not to intervene as it remained verbal only. Mr. Black is known to have spent the night at a friend’s house with his girlfriend. Mr. Black reportedly drank heavily throughout the night which culminated in an argument with his girlfriend who decided to drive Mr. Black’s car home due to his intoxicated state. The arguments continued in the car, which forced her to stop. She was then ordered out of the car by Mr. Black who drove off, not before he called a friend to collect her from the street. Potosi
Yes, but if they report the name only and anyone assumes he's British, the teachers have a field day. 'No drunken driving." Missing in this thread so far, because lecturing a Thai is futile anyway.
Briggsy
Where did he get the money for the car? Once that has been ascertained, we will know a lot more about "Mark Michael Black".
