Five sites set ablaze in Nakhon Phanom

The Nation

Police are searching for culprits who launched five arson attacks in different parts of Nakhon Phanom on Saturday night.

NAKHON PHANOM: -- The first attack took place at 11pm near a shop selling car tyres in Nakhon Phanom's Muang municipality. Police found 10 used-car tyres had been set ablaze.

The second attack was at 1am on Sunday in a warehouse which stores construction material and used-car parts in the same municipality. The fire caused more than Bt100,000 in damage.

The arsonists struck for a third time at 3.20 am on a utility truck parked outside a house of municipal councillor Somkiat Chotwuthidecha who said he had no enemies and was puzzled by the attack. The utility was half scorched.

The fourth arson took place at 4am on a large oil truck with Nakhon Ratchasima licence plates parked at a petrol station. Police are trying to locate the driver and owner of the truck, which was partly damaged.

The last attack was at 5am on a rubber centre building in Muang district, that is under construction.

A part of the building was burnt down. Construction workers alerted police but they said they did not see the arsonists.

Pol Col Somnuek Mikkawan, superintendent of Nakhon Phanom Muang district police station, said such a series of arson attacks was unprecedented in the province but expressed confidence the arsonists would be identified soon.

Insurance fires presumably.

how in the hull would you come up with that?

As there is no Terrorist in Thailand it cant have been a terrorist attack.whistling.gif

Arson, burning tires, where have I heard that before?

I hope the arsonist(s) are caught before they start a fire that takes someone's life, the longer they can go on lighting fires without being caught the bolder and more dangerous they will become. There have been cases before in other countries where the arsonist has been a voluteer or career fire fighter, maybe somewhere to begin looking.
