Local man Ratthapark Wilairot in news, crashed at Valencia and his bike took out Thomas Luthi who'll likely miss the opening round of Moto2 as a result

I'm a little surprised Gresini has persisted with RW given his performances to date.

Luthi suffered 'multiple and complicated' fractures to his right arm, elbow and shoulder in the incident. The upper arm and elbow fractures have now been screwed and plated during five-hours of surgery in Switzerland, while the shoulder is to heal naturally.

looks a good day at Philip Island.

Hi Cyclone, welcome to the forum, Yes what you say is true, Willyrot's perfomance hasnt been that special for 2 years or more,

WSB, well, big suprise, 5 out of 6 podiums for Aprilla, are Aprilla missing Max? dont think so somehow!! it could have been different if Careless and Marco hadnt had that shunt in race 1, who knows? and i really thought Baz was gonna go past Tom in the closing laps, Tom was having his wrist strapped up on the grid, so hes still suffering from the practise crash,

WSS, Softglu was playing with Sam Lowes, that was plain to see, Softglu went past him wherever he wanted, the Kawasaki was more than a match for the Yamaha,

Big Thanks to Eurosport internet TV, watched it all live this morning,

But 7 weeks till the next one,,, thats a ....... long time..

^ Sunday morning motorcycle racing - should be more of it!

A little out of touch, one bike I wasn't aware of was the MV Agusta 675; Rolfo looked to have 4th secured until he stopped with 2 laps to go. I didn't follow what they were saying about his sponsor I thought they were saying 'Park and Go' which seemed unfortunate give he was parked trackside, with no 'go' but now I see it is ParkinGO who sponsors the bike.

I like the idea of triples, see there was an Australian well back on a Triumph 675.

C_27_articolo_97851_immagineprincipale.j

MV Agusta F3 675

Ratthapark/Feem - my wife often points out news items about him in the Thai newspapers he's quite well known in that respect, but on the track seems permanently rooted (in the best possible sense!) in around 20th position. I've not seen any actual Honda advertising using him/his image, yet to see the range of replicas eg of Ratthapark Honda Waves - think the Yamaha Rossi 46 scooters have that part of the market.

Hi Cyclone

I've seen Rattapark replica's but I think they were Clicks not waves and whether home made jobs or not not sure, he used to go better in the 250s when he was an up and comer but since the crash on the way home from his old mans funeral at the end of 11 he has been pretty catatonic, I saw an interview of him on TV and he was very subdued.

Getting back to yesterday, what an excellent day for Aprilia, they have the mumbo but too early to call yet.

After all 3 days the same 2 were top one or the other, Marquez was also up there 4 crashes though, Cal OK, Valentino no better than 4th, Bradl and Bautista, Ducati a second off throughout.

Off to Austin Texas now, maybe Nicky will lay off the steak, Id be surprised if Pedrosa was 61kg, thought maybe around 50.

Posted

Pedrosa - I remember when he started in MotoGP he was recorded as being 45kg

This article from 2011 has him beefed up to a mighty 51kg

How Much Of A Factor Is Weight In MotoGP?

and 51 on his MotoGP profile

Yep! typo 51 not 61 smile.png It's a good article but wasn't VR's last Championship win when there were less restrictions.?

Personally I wish they would do away with the amount of fuel to use e.g. bigger rider more fuel more weight - smaller rider less fuel less weight !

They are always out to slow things down bah.gif it would put more engines to the test as well I think.

I would like to ask what is the best way to watch MotoGP here in Thailand?

I have the basic condo TV so do not think it will be shown.

Although it has the Speed channel it seems to be all Thai related events.

Or will I be lucky & this channel show it?

Just curious what TV packages/services if any are you folks using?

Or are you going to a pub or Internet?

Thanks hoping I can watch some this year

Hi Mania,

If you have BB, try this link,

http://www.livesport-stream.com/index/british_eurosport_2_hd_live_streaming_free/0-31

Ive been watching on this for 9 months now, you have to get used to the adverts ect, but stream 2 is usually the best, also on the same site is Eurosport HD, try this to.

for TV listings, to see whats on ect, this one is quite accurate,

http://tvlistings.guardian.co.uk/text-only/?tvgChannelName=Eurosport2+UK&tvgBroadcaster=UKSkyCable&tvgRegion=London&tvgFlagFilter=&tvgDayOffset=1f

Or Youtube a day or so later, try this for practice this year, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dUyTg2C16Kc

Hi Mania

Truevisions the satellite and cable TV operator has both MotoGP + Qualifying and racing all classes plus WBSK two main races only.

The company does not have a good reputation on TV for some reason. I haven't had any problems although a lot of their stuff is crappy and it does come at a price 16k baht for 13 months gold package, (this obviously includes a raft of other stuff)

But Mr Lickey has BB and I do not, its getting closer and I keep promising to look into speed upgrades. A farang 10k from me just paid a third of 120k to TOT to get broadband. I'll wait another year thanks. Not sure if you could get it in your condo though.

Irish Road Racing and the TT are my favorites nowadays

I have to agree the

IOM has always been a big favorite of mine too. Such a sense of speed.

Also now that internet is goo there are a lot of nice folks who upload

the races pretty quick which is great

Many years ago before good internet, I would buy the yearly VHS tapes

from Dukes Video for IOM, GP500 & SBK smile.png

Hey Lickey I caught some Irish Road Racing from last year a week or so ago. The River Ridge track I think it was, Michael Dunlop was killing it, Guy Martin tried hard. What happened to the Aussie Cam Donald he could match it with them.

Moaner is signed apparently for the Vodafone B team which means he'll be racing week in week out in the support series and will probably get a seat next to Lowndes or Whincup in thew A team for Bathurst and Sandown. What a comedown I am flummoxed.

Looking forward to some racing. F1 starts this weekend (I think), the Aussie opener for WSBK was good. It seems like we will have to wait until next month.

In my first dark ages here I missed MotoGP until I got PSI and it was on a Malaya channel but after 2 years it was taken by a pay channel.

Now I have a 10mb 3bb connection and download MotoGP from ( torrentz.eu/ ) on the following Monday or Tuesday.

I like doing this as I can pause if I want and not miss anything.

I also save to CD and at the end of the race season I like to watch the whole year back to back.

Other motorcycle racing I watch on utube if I get time, edited TT documentaries are good to watch having been there 2 times.

I have the same internet as you & will probably go that route with torrents too.

I like being able to pause or rewind too.

Your lucky to have been to the TT twice ! wink.png

Try uk-tv Asia for moto go bbc2 shows the main race live with good English commentary I even think bbc2 is one of there free trials channels so you don't have to subscribe, can pause rewind and record as well, works great for me on a crappy 2mb connection.

On another note I don't comment much on this thread but always read it,however I often forget about it as it's hidden away in the sports forum ,anyone else think itcwould be better moving it to the motorcycle forum and having it pinned there,.

some good news for followers of road racing

Two weeks ago I read that Ireland's Kells Road Races have been cancelled for the second year in a row due to lack of finances.

Also read that The Bush road races also cancelled - but now I can't find where I read that (sorry).

The first Irish National Road Races is the Cookstown 100 on April 27

Now good news - source

The Ulster Grand Prix will be backed by German tyre manufacturer Metzeler until 2015 after a three-year title sponsorship package was officially confirmed on Sunday.

The deal represents a significant shot in the arm for the iconic road race, which carries the proud title of the world’s fastest road race after Kiwi flyer Bruce Anstey lapped the awesome Dundrod circuit at an average speed of 133.97mph on his way to victory in the second Superbike race in 2010 - his final swansong for Northern Ireland’s TAS Racing team.

A big favourite of the sport’s diehard enthusiasts, the ‘Prix’ has bounced back from adversity after the organisers were left with no option but to cancel the event without a single race held in 2008 due to a relentless downpour of almost biblical proportions.

The setback came a year after the meeting had been cut short in 2007 as a result of inclement weather, leaving the famous old road race almost on its knees.

and more - I am bit behind with bike websites, I see that Crash Net has updated its site since I used it last and now has clear, separate sections for different categories, eg this one for Road Racing

Yes, please keep this forum here,

The kells road races are cancelled mainly due to insurance costs i believe, there was a disscusion on Crash about this last year, i think the main problem with "between the hedges racing" its very difficult to charge spectators, i did sugest contribution boxes, with signs like, "If you enjoyed the Racing,Please give a little to make next Years Racing possible" I got a lot of likes for that, nobody minds paying a bit if they enjoyed it im sure,

Lets hope they can keep the NW200,UGP, ect going, I think the TT is safe enough nowadays, and Josh Brookes is going to the NW and TT,

And over the last 10yrs or so, it seems only Irish,English,Scots,Welsh,Ozzies & Kiwis do any good at these races, Perhaps a bit to frightening for the rest of the best?

Ozzie BSB star is riding at the North West 200 in Ireland this year, as a prelude to his TT appearance,

As a newcomer, he has to wear a Hi-Vis jacket in practice at both races, i wonder how he feels about this??

It seems like ages since that first WSBK opener in Aus, too long in fact. It is a shame that there aren't many WSBK rounds, the fact they don't come to Malaysia makes it worse.

Roll on next week when MotoGP starts, very odd time of the night here in Asia though. Why cant they hold it on Saturday night instead?

while we have a gap between races, here's a three minute clip from last weekend's Cliffhanger - near where I once lived in NZ, have ridden this road but never game to race it. Fenceposts very unforgiving and there have been many a wrecked bike (and rider) here.

Jay Lawrence is an experienced racer on track and road circuits in Formula 1/Superbikes class NZ and Australia, winning last year's NZ Winter Series F1(Superbike) and only out of the top 3 four times in 17 races.

King of the Cliffhanger title.
This 6,100m hill climb races up through the Wairarapa hills, climbs approx. 300m and negotiates 27 corners.
This event is geared for racers, weekend cafe heroes, or anyone that wants to scream up this primo twisty hill in safety.
The hillclimb is held on the Te Wharau Rd (the Kourarau hydro dam is part-way up this road). The road surface is good with only a few bumps and ruts to challenge rider and machine. For half the distance the road clings to the side of the hill (offering good views over the Wairarapa valley). The remainder of the course cuts through the surrounding farmland in a series of fast sweeping curves.

296kmh record set on a borrowed motorbike

30/03/2013

Jay Lawrence, 24, broke his own record time and took the King of the Cliffhanger crown in the hillclimb race near Masterton this week.

The Bridgestone tyre specialist borrowed a friend's bike for the event, and returned to the Wairarapa country road to smash his previous best by nearly five seconds.

"This year the road was perfect, the weather was good and the time came really easily, to be honest," he said.

He set the previous record in 2009, and made another attempt last year but the race was called off after a fatal crash.

He covered the 6.1km road in 2m 04s.

"The biggest thing when you're riding is the speed becomes irrelevant. What you do notice is how quickly you are getting into your corners and how much you have to slow down."
