A big loss to the world.

May his ragas never run out of extra beats and codas.

RIP

RIP the legend.

Music is equivalent to god in India for which one has to worship whole life.

His Bhimpalasi performed live at the Monterey Festival 1967 is a masterpiece:

...but the only masterpiece of his that I've heard.

Very sad. Rest in Peace Ravi.

At least your music will live on and be enjoyed for centuries to come!

I saw Ravi Shankar at the Woodstock Music and Art fair in 1969. Before he performed, he requested that the crowd (500,000 stoned kids) to please be silent and to refrain from smoking.. of any kind. Nobody obeyed, but at the end of a 20 minute raga, everyone was so blown away. The sound from the speakers on that warn August Friday night seemed to engulf the whole world.

A great genius, for sure. May he be reincarnated as a Hindu god.

A Great man! Om Namo Narayanaya. Have been to many of his concerts in the US and one show in Calcutta India.

Rest in eternal peace Ravi Shankar we hardly knew you! His was a internal journey through the sounds he created.

He could certainly have taught Clapton and Hendrix a thing or two. Quite incredible talent. RIP, you had a great run Ravi.

Here he is on TV. What he does is just mind blowing!

Exactly my thoughts!clap2.gif

And let's not forget his everlasting contribution to Cockney rhyming slang.

And no one has mentioned Norwegian Wood, IMHO one of the Beatles' finest, and certainly most original songs.
