I used to live near Klong Toey in Bangkok. I have seen lots of different spellings on 'official' government road signs. Basically - Thais write it as they hear it!. Only the Americans spell it Ko Samui, bloody pain doing a Google map link, and have to spell it out, to people..!! . .... although there are tour buses from Phuket, I think, that has Kho Samui written on them ! ...
