Multiple Entry/exit

Featured Replies

Hi Guys, i expect this question has been asked many times before, so i did a scroll down and couldnt find any thing and im wanting some updated information on what to do.

Im an Australian Citizen, i went to Thailand in June 2012 and im going back in January next year.

The plan was to stay in Bangkok with my friend and stay his apartment and use it as a base for a month. During my months stay i had planned to spend most of my time in Thailand, but also wanted to take a trip from Thailand to Kuala Lumpur and then return 4 days later back to Thailand.

I had also planned to go from Thailand to Vietnam via air for 7 days and then back to Thailand before flying home a few days later.

But looking at alot of posts on the internet about visas and multiply entries this looks like now an immpossible thing to do due to Thialands via rules.

I saw somewhere in another post something about applying for a re-entry visa before i leave ??

Im really confused .

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks.

The total trip is 30 days? Shouldn't be a problem.

As long as you have a ticket out of Thailand withing 30 days after arriving, you won't need a visa.

You'll get 30 days visa exempt entry on each arrival by air, KL and Vietnam included.

If you want to stay longer than 30 days, get a tourist visa prior to traveling here. That will give you 60 days, and can be extended another 30 days at an immigration office here.

You could get a re-entry permit to keep the original permission to stay date active, but with what you posted that doesn't seem warranted.

What he said ^^^. Note that at land borders the visa exemption is only 15 days (30 by air), so plan your forays out of the country carefully if travelling overland.

Re-entry permits are mostly for those on extensions of stay to keep it alive whilst out of the country, a short-term tourist need not worry about them.

Thankyou both Terry and Crossy

Actually, My flight Arrives in on the 17th Jan at Midnight and i depart Thailand 18th Feb which is a total of 32 days.

I thought the visa was 60 days when i booked my flight, and then thought that as ill be spending time in KL and Vietnam that it would be fine.

So now do i either apply for a visa or should i just bring my flight forward so i leave 2 days earlier?

Get a tourist visa, good for 60 days. This will save you trouble wth the airline, who might want to see a ticket out of the country within 30 days of arrival if you don't hold a visa.

Alternatively, book a flight to KL within 30 days of arrival and also no visa is required.

This is so confusing.

So if i book my ticket to KL before i arrive in Thailand i dont have to apply for a visa? Immigration will let me leave for 3 - 4 days and then let me re-enter - same goes for my trip to Vietnam ? (Which is a maybe at this stage)

Correct, with a ticket out of Thailand within 30 days of arrival you don't need a visa. If you fly back in to Thailand, you get another stay of 30 days for free. If you enter Thailand by land, you only get 15 days.
