I went to the Phnom Penh Thai Embassy at around 10am today (Monday) to submit the MOE documentation supplied to me by the language school for an Ed visa.

I neded to fill out an application form and provide 2 passport photos. I paid nothing at this stage.

The lady who processed the application told me that the consul needs to see it and that I should come back tomorrow (Tuesday) at 10:30 am.

I have no idea why she wants me to come back tomorrow so I shall wait and see and report back here as to what happens.

I heard it takes 4 days to process these applications. Is it possible I will get the Ed visa in tomorrow when I go back ?

I have no idea, but we will find out tomorrow.

Expect they want you to return and pay for application if it is acceptable for submission and if not they will not charge you as Consul was not available to preview yesterday.

You're right, the consul was not available to look at my documents yesterday. It also appears that he wasn't available to look at them prior to my arrival today either.

When I got there today nobody seemed to have any idea what was going on or when my application would be accepted, etc.

All I was told is that my application needs to be seen by the consul. It could be today, maybe before lunch, maybe after. So I took a seat and waited. I was going to return to my hotel if they closed for lunch as the break is two hours long.

Just before they closed for lunch they called me over and accepted the payment for my visa. It will be issued on Thursday.

So all in all it wasn't so bad apart from the fact that I had to go to the consulate twice to get my application approved, and then wait two days for it to be issued. They tell me it will be ready at around 4pm on Thursday.

There was a large influx of visa agents who each had what appeared to be large stacks of passports. I'm pretty sure they are going to be for tourist visas. If I wasn't going for an Education visa which requires a whole bundle of paperwork from the Ministry Of Education I would have used an agent as well.

I collected my visa on Thursday. There were more delays. Nobody was behind the counter for at least 1 hour. Then they came out and started handing out the passports. I was there for 2 hours before getting my passport.

So this took 4 days in all. I applied on Monday then wasted another trip back to the Embassy on Tuesday because someone wasn't there to do his job on the Monday then I returned to collect in on Thursday.

This trip cost me at least 40,000 Baht all in. The visa was $80.
