JusMe
Finally, some decent competition for our lousy Tesco-Lotus Big C is building in Ban Phe, and according to some guys working at the door, is scheduled to open December 31st. It's not the full department store style, but a good sized market. Hooray!
Eff1n2ret
Here in Banchang, I'm jealous. We too have a lousy Tesco-Lotus - overcrowded, frequently out of stock of basic items, it also is in need of some serious competition. There was a brief glimmer of hope a few months ago when the market on the opposite side of Sukhumvit was moved to the new bypass and all the stalls demolished. The rumour was that another supermarket was to be built on the site, possibly Makro, but that now seems to have been discounted, and a fresh crop of bigger and better stalls have sprung up in place of the old ones. Big C's aren't bad. They're not wonderful, but at least they might spur Tesco into improvements.
Chao Lao Beach
They are putting in 70 "MINI Big C" in this year (2013), and more next year. They are a bit like Tesco Express. In Chanthaburi we now have a Full blown one, Tesco Robinson and Tops. I prefer Tops, it is small but carries more of what I like.
