F1: Ecclestone Gives Bangkok Grand Prix The Green Light

Will the drivers be obliged to wait for the green light? Will all pit-stops be directed by a man in a plastic reflective waistcoat with a whistle?

All this is irrelevant as continually waved red flags signify the race, practice or qualifying session are suspended. If the red flag situation can't be stopped then the race is abandoned.

Rule change: 5 red lights illuminated, and the cars go off!

The man with the whistle is at the pit exit, after a early stop from a back marker. 'The wistle' is stopping the leader, b/c the Caterham comes back on track, again!

Because Vettel had to brake totally unexpected, and the pit exit is behind curve 1, Button and Co., all crashed into his Red Bull, Caterham wins there first and only GP.

The whistle man gets a life time pension, but unlucky, a fresh imported Ferrari cuts the payments down to none!

It's not confirmed, that a old white haired guy gripped into the wheel of the driver, but...!

There isn't a single stretch of street in Bangkok smooth and leveled enough for an F1 car. So where could such a track be?

Do you think the streets of Singapore were fit for a F1 car before they decided to race there?

I can't believe all the negative f*&%wits on here, you are like vultures circling waiting for a carcase to pick at, pathetic! It's not your money or your country so why get so bent out of shape about it? Embrace it and enjoy it!

I for one am confident it will go ahead, and knowing Thailand - it will be a spectacle to put their neighbours in the shade, cant be outdone by Singapore or Malaysia now can we!!

Bring it on!!!

PS: i have noted all the names of the naysayers and i am going to come back here in 2015 after the race and ridicule you!!w00t.gif

The roads in Singapore weren't fit for a race, and needed adjustments, but if you've ever been to Singapore you will know that comparing average road condition of Singapore with Bangkok is like comparing oranges with lemons.

Indeed, Singapore has a superb road network and it is well maintained, unlike BKK. Traffic is getting a lot worse there nowadays though.

Great news for BKK but a sad day for Thailand if this is going to allow the Red Bull cop killer to go free as I suspect.

Probably doesn't help that there is also an overpass or underpass at almost every major intersection.

I understand that negotiations are at an early stage with the Safety car situation! It will be deployed at least 3 times, only it wont be a safety car it will a loudspeaker vanbiggrin.png

Also talk of allowing doubly parking in the pit lane, this F1 but not as we know it!

No No No, have you not noticed already the boys tuning up there Tuk Tuks ............ Pit lane what pit lane, fleet of Tul Tuks can rush tyres and mechanics to the car anywhere on the track.. giggle.gif

Still would be nice to see Bangkok pull it off

10 days before the race they use six 747 cargo jets to fly in 1.2 million pounds of equipment to run the race. Prior to the race local politicians get free trips to other races to observe the monster traffic jams and need for hotels etc. to house the groupies that follow F1 races around the world. It just lasts for a little longer than one weekend. I suspect that if this comes off in BKK, the race track will need to be built not too far from an airport. I think the taxpayer gets taken to the cleaners and the locals spend a lot of their income on an event that doesn't do them any good except to pump a temporary adrenaline charge. http://www.kvue.com/news/First-F-1-Cargo-Jet-arrives-and-public-safety-plan-announced-177746921.html

Is it still on for 2015???

Presume the shenanigans at Government house has put paid to any chances, pity Eddie has not got a team now, half the country would be supporting him while the others would be supporting the prancing house team.

Just seen the race calendar for 2014, 3 probables just go kicked where it hurts.

Wonder if most of the equipment will arrive at Don M airport ??? as it's best placed for BKK. AND ALWAYS will be.

Only two years from now!! There is more chance of getting the next man on the moon.

Anyway, in 2 years it will be time for the next round of political marches and sit ins. I can see Thaksin and Jatuporn slobbering at the mouth now thinking of holding rally's and marches that would stop the F1 race in order to get whatever Government exists to capitulate. Bernie, you have no clue as to what you are letting yourself in for!

do they realise what's involved with this, logistics for a start, closure of roads in BKK for near enough 5 days, road surface laying as the current materials would not be suitable for racing, I think the organisers have a lot to do before an official go ahead with race date ever hits paper

IMO it's a pipe dream that will never happen
