Embattled Pheu Thai MP gets temporary freedom to join House session

BANGKOK, Dec 21 – Pheu Thai MP Korkaew Pikulthong was released from Bangkok's Laksi Temporary Prison this morning under his parliamentary immunity to attend House meeting until the present session ends.

He was sent to jail on Nov 30 after the Criminal Court revoked his bail on terrorism charge.

He was greeted by Red Shirt activist Thida Thavornseth, leader of the pro-government United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD), his family and some supporters.

Talking to reporters after his release, Mr Korkaew stood firm that he will continue to join the lineup on the Red Shirt’s political stage but will be more careful in his words to avoid future problems.

He called on Red Shirt supporters to refrain from anger and to cooperate in lifting Thailand from the six-year pitch so that it moves on.

“The opposition should overlook [fugitive ex-prime minister] Thaksin shinawatra and Red Shirters should also overlook [opposition Democrat leader] Abhisit Vejjajiva,” he said, adding that he would fight on steadfastly as a UDD core leader.

He will return to jail when the present parliamentary session ends.

The Criminal Court announced on Thursday that the detention of the Pheu Thai MP remained unchanged but he would be temporarily released to attend the parliamentary session as requested by Parliament. (MCOT online news)

No mention of honored and respected in it. He was met by some supporters (three or four)

In fact it was a back door admittance of his role in the terrorism charges.

Also an open admittance of the fact that they are trying to white wash Thaksin by attacking Abhist.

It has been carried to the point of ridiculousness that he wants it dropped as he is afraid that if Abhist was found guilty his and yours hero would be put on trial for thousands of murders.

Criminality is not a popularity contest. He is charged with terrorism and enough evidence was presented to warrant the charge, and was given bail. He then broke his bail conditions by threatening judges and releasing their private details. How is that "judicial harassment" rather than criminal behaviour.

Incarceration is usually a rite of passage (note spelling please) for criminal fraternities, which I suppose is apt for UDD and PTP. The aura of victimization is only perceived by the terminally stupid, which would include readers of jatuporn's drivel - lots of pictures I assume.

Korkeaw has already been found guilty ad sentenced, Abhisit and Suthep have not yet gone to trial.

I would seriously make it a crime to continue a protest once it "severely" impedes the general public in their daily life. Shut down the centre of a city for long enough (a week or so) and at that point everyone present is in breach of the law. They could have gone to lumpini and sat their to their hearts content, but the story they plead is made all the bigger because they cause massive inconvenience to hundreds of thousands every day.

As for whatever else the leaders got up to, they went way way beyond any reasonable type of conduct in asking to burn down Bangkok. However, to turn this into terrorism shows how clueless the legal system is in thailand. A couple of years for incitement to arson would be enough to have shut them up.

Red Shirt acts and threats or terrorism are well documented, I don't know why it would be clueless to add those charges to those involved.

I wouldn't know were to precisely place Korkaew's threats of unleashing a civil war unless the court ruled on their (UDD and PTP) favour, the thing that landed him in jail; though it wouldn't take much convincing that it also constitutes the use of terror for political pressure.

Seems as if this character Korkeaw like Jutuporn is becoming increasingly concerned about the payment methods of Thaksin and the P.T.P.
