Does anyone know if at the US Consulate in Bangkok if they make the decision on the US tourist visa immediately after the interview? If it is denied do they give you the passport back or do they still keep it and send it back to you?

My gf finished her US tourist interview yesterday but is not sure what the official said !!....she's 99% certain they said "ok we give you the visa, you can go home now". Then she bought a special thai postal envelope and wrote her address on it and handed that in. Does anyone know if this is the process if the visa is accepted?

I'm pretty sure from what she described she got the visa but I'm not 100%....why would they hold on to the passport if the visa is denied? Unless to stop people making a scene or lose their face so the policy would be to send back everyone the passports in the post.

So basically the chance of her not getting it is like the odds of winning the lottery? Since we'll never win the lottery then surely she's got it!

Because getting a visitors visa for a girl friend is not all that easy and getting the first one means the next will probably be good for 10 years.
