They can't tax Nitrogen or O2, so CO2 is it. -

Human-Induced Climate Change Creates Olympic "Heat Dome" Crisis
No frustration here. My life goes on as always, driving my ICE car and no prospect that I'll have to buy an EV in my lifetime. Do tell what the "silent majority" are doing, as I can't see anything much happening? I'm sure there are some in NZ that actually believe the sky will fall if we don't ban oil, but none where I live, and it's all mostly ignored, except perhaps some teachers and IMO easily impressed students. BTW, Who's moaning. Only the climate change warriors, IMO. -

Restaurant Industry Faces Over 50% Drop in Spending, Urges Govt for Immediate Stimulus
Follow the tour buses: parked by the dozen on Jomtien Second Road at all those mass-feeding buffet places. Big open-air sheds, 200+ tables. Packed out. That's the Chinese. Apart from that, the market should sort it out. Those with a solid business plan and a decent location will survive. Why these so-called business associations always cry for help from the government is beyond me. When the going is good, have these associations ever volunteered a higher tax or revenue contribution to government coffers? Never. But suddenly their sector's financial problems are supposed to be off-loaded onto the broader community via tax relief or subsidies or crude handouts. Ridiculous! -

Apple Withdraws Ad Amid Thai Backlash, Extends Apology
A Thai company was involved in making the movie... they could not see what they were making?? Besides that.. Thailand is still not entering the 21st century with all outdated laws, rules, cars, and the way people think. No surely it is a mirror, but the truth hurts so maybe it is an opportunity to make changes instead of all the commotion. That will do much more harm to the tourists industry than let it go... Maybe it will attrack a lot of people to go on a vintage holiday destination -

Pocket money for my son
Which is better, teaching a kid to value the money they earn, or having them regard it as an entitlement? Most successful people I know went out and earned their wealth, they certainly did not wait for someone to hand it to them. -

Pocket money for my son
Something to consider is making his pocket money based on what he does. Give him a 500 baht base. Then, based on school work and jobs around the house, add to it. You can also tell him based on merit that you will put away x amount so that he can buy an IPAD or something else. Also, the amount you give has to depend on the school he is at I am sure tht prices are different for things around school at the higher end schools than at the lower end. Also pay him at the begining and mid pint of the month and watch what he sends it on. I am sure he will blow the first part in a few days and come back formore LOL We all did. Then we learned. -

DTV any visaofffice helping ?
Which country in Europe is it? Maybe it's better you contact them (first by email, if they don't reply then call). I'm also not a resident where is my bank account and my company (Hong Kong), I'll wait for some reports first, then I'll ask them before my current visa expires (October) if they accept DTV application by non-residents. I was planning to do it in Kuala Lumpur, but for DTV they require business relationship 'in Malaysia'... Vientiane seems not as good as we thought (one guy was rejected yesterday, they needed original paper from the bank)... There was a positive report from Phnom Penh, maybe you can try there? I'll wait and hope to see more positive reports from these places, not in a hurry. -

Thoughts on the opening ceremony at the Paris Olympics
Back to the opening ceremony: it was ok. The quibble afterwards was a lot to do about noting.
