Fair Around 700 Years Old Stadium?

Featured Replies

I heard from mrs that there is a fair or some theme park near the 700 years old stadium, anyone know where is the place? i been looking around at several chiang mai events website but can't seem to find any details about it

it's at the City Hall fairgrounds, almost across the road from stadium.

The annual winter fair. Worth a visit.

Annual event. Nothing special. Lots of kids whacked out on yaabaa. Fights break out fairly often. Same vendors, events year after year.

Lots of noise as well that travels across to many of the moo bans in Mae Rim, San Sai and even Maejo.

+1 That about sums it up! rolleyes.gif

The Winter Fair is kind of fun if you haven't been before. The usual fairground attractions: pop 3 balloons with 3 blunt off-sited darts to win a cuddly toy, that sort of thing. Then there's the freak show. a guy with a dagger through his arm and red paint dripping from the wound; a guy in mask purporting to be grotesquely deformed. There used to be a 'wall of death' that wouldn't have passed any Health & Safety check back home, but I think even the Thais have worked out that its unbelievably dangerous and removed it. Other than that its the usual Thai food shopping opportunity and beer - which is one of its redeeming features. Oh yes, and several of the motor car manufacturers have stands to persuade you to buy a new car.

is this for real? <deleted>

My only visit was a couple of years ago. Didn't see any kids on yaabaa and definitely no fights.

Just Thai families and couples having a good time. Maybe I was lucky.

The usual fair stuff, some interesting food, small concert when I was there.

Won't be going back anytime soon but worth seeing at least once.

Do they still have the Wall of Death motorbike riders?
