Further armed incident involving Russian Tourists in South Pattaya

PATTAYA:--In the space of 10 days two serious incidents involving Russian Tourists has occurred in the Pratamnuk Mountain area in South Pattaya in almost exactly the same spot.

In the early hours of 2nd January four Russian Tourists reported an armed robbery involving four Thai men on two motorbikes inside Soi 5 off the Pratmanuk Road. Cash and valuables were taken before the four men fled in the direction of Jomtien.

The incident was reported to Pattaya Police and a witness confirmed the robbery which took place as the four Russians were sitting and drinking on the side of the road.

If this gets into a "guns" type of discussion, then I sure would be interested how anti-gun posters view the ability for Thais to manufacture their own home-made weapons from simple materials purchased from hardware purchases. This seems to be the norm, as this is the type of firearm that was used in the unfortunate death of the British boy dancing on the beach. After all, one cannot blame the gun industry or the availability of guns when the gun itself is being made at home.

It would be interesting to see a statistic of how many armed crimes are being committed with homemade guns -vs- manufacturer's guns. I do not think there should be any leniency for a criminal who makes and uses a manufactured gun. It speaks too loudly of premeditation with intent.

Perhaps if the focus was on gunpowder or bullets, then guns would be rendered as useless clubs?
