Certificate Of Residence For M/c Licence?

Featured Replies

Here in Pattaya do I need a certificate of residence to get a m/c licence?

If so can I get it from Immigration at Jomtien?

Do I need to show proof of where I live?

How much does it cost?

Thanks :)

Yes you need, can be in a form of a rental agreement.

Or if you 'own' your property you can use your housebook.

Or you can get a thai 'landlord' rental agreement from a post office type shop and fill it in yourself, aided by a thai smile.png

Yes, yes, yes, 300 baht.

Proof of address can be utility bill, rental contract or similar. And you'll need passport size photo's and copies of passport picture page, visa, arrival stamp and departure card.

Thanks guys.

Have the paperwork / utility bills and will get that sorted after the weekend.

Just watch the two movies, one is just Thai opera, but the other has a lot of important things in it, that you wont see on the street, but to pass the written test, you will need to know. Its a lot of BS, but that is what the test is based on, so try to pay attention. The driving part of the test is nothing, but just need to understand what they want you to do.

What you mean with things you won't see on the street ?

Things like people stopping for a red traffic light, wearing helmets, using indicators, driving at the correct side of the road and more of those invisible things ?

Yes, those things! and a few more. Also stopping on the crosswalks, or passed the crosswalks, going through red lights. I just said that you wont see this in Thailand, I didnt say its something unusual in the rest of the world. You just got to understand that what people do on the street, and what the traffic laws are not the same. Most of us have driven here without a license for a while, so its easy to forget there are actually laws here. Some of them are what we are used to, but there are others that are not, so you need to watch the movie!
