What Do Thais Think Of Thai Visa Forum?...

Featured Replies

Ive gotta put the question out there. I know there are some Thais that read and post on here, so Im hoping you read this!..Firstly as much as so many of us love your dear country, theres an awful lot of how do you put it?...umm, criticizing and giving crap and discussing general problems about things in your beautiful country, things like customer service, Thai police, theres 2 things come to mind quickly, then theres everything else that we all have read and said our thoughts out loud about a country thats not ours! If this was a forum about my country, Im sure I would have cracked the shitez by now, and surely most others would have also if it was about their country.

So if any Thais wanna give it back and feel like you've gotta get it off your chests, nows your chance....Tell us how you really feel, I wont get offended, I promise.wai.gif

Sounds like you still have a lot to learn about how Thais deal with things in general, and things they don’t like, in particular.whistling.gif

So I take it your Thai? Your answer is written like you are but then go onto say "how Thais deal with things in general".Should a Thai take that as an insult?. Put it this way, I know what my wife thinks of TVF, but shes not a member, so bad luck to herbiggrin.png

HEY!!!!

How about something funny to liven up these posts????

Thais dont understand our humour, they think we are bagging them, when all we try to do is make them understand where the rest of the world is.clap2.gif

Ooooowwwww, she goes. Why you always tik tik tik on you computer.. You love Thai Visa more than me?

Sometimes I do teerak, I can turn the computer off unlike you.

Ahh, she laughs, but finds it hard to understand why we ask other falang about Thailand instead of asking a Thai.

Your wife does have a very good point. Why would a farang ask another farang about Thailand instead of asking a Thai? You are always better off going to the source rather than getting it second or third hand.wink.png

id ask on panthip or a thai forum, im sure you will get a much clearer picture there

Because you're unlikely to get a straight answer from a Thai.

They tend to tell you what they think you want to hear.

Anyways, as far as I know TV doesn't have any Thai members.

(A few look Krungs that were raised and educated in the west, plus one or two naturalized, but I don't think that's the people you meant)

Perhaps that is your experience in Thailand but not mine. If you know what to ask, who to ask and how to ask it, it is much more efficient to deal with Thais directly.

So I take it your Thai?

No I am not Thai, but having lived here most of my life, I have not only grown to appreciate how Thais deal with certain issues (not everything) but have even gone on to adopt and internalize aspects which enhance my enjoyment of life here in Thailand.

I'm Thai. born in Isaan, raised in the west.

I've got lots of relatives and Thai friends and none of them have heard of TV.

Thais must read TVF, or we wouldnt have certain topics banned.

We have to follow the local laws, but lets not get into that discussion.

I can think of many reasons why that isn't true, I've found other members on this forum to be an invaluable source of information. One example was a few years ago when I couldn't connect my tv to the internet and a few members helped. I had of course asked my wife and handful of my (fair-weather) Thai friends who had no clue, I'd phoned Samsung, phoned True, phoned the router company, no-one was any help, just blaming each other, but guys on Thaivisa could explain how to get it working. Amongst all the negativity, there are lots of clever, helpful people on this forum.

When we need info on just about anything, my wife asks me to post a question on Thai Visa. So I would say that recognizes it as a good source of information. She reads English extremely well, but she can't be bothered to read Thai Visa even a little. But she does think some of the content I share with her is humorous.

She has no problem criticizing Thailand. She is a realist.

OP: it's well known that Australians dish it out about other countries, but most cannot handle any criticism of their own country.

I discuss some TV topics with my Thai wife and if it's about poor customer service, poor driving skills and the endemic corruption she agrees. What she does find amusing is all the pontification and never ending discussions about BG's, just says Westerners are stupid.

I do agree there are some clever, helpful people on this forum and I suppose people have their reasons for not wanting to deal with Thais. I still prefer to source thing directly and my Thai friends are always better connected than the farangs I know.

Your example sounds like something best dealt with by a Google search as it was a broader internet connectivity issue and not something about Thailand, so going to a Thai might not have been going to the source, as I suggested might be a good idea. Anyway, I think saying my assertion is not true might be overstating a bit. There are always exceptions to any general statement.

I disagree, its perhaps well known to you. Its not easy to criticize Australia anyway. Perhaps thats why you think like this?

Thank Buddha for that. A lot of what is said on here, would not go over well.
