The incident I recall was well before 6 or 7 years ago. But from your description it was Paveena Hongsakul (which now sounds right but I was thinking it was someone else for some reason) and she was not a minister but an MP.

I certainly wasn't more than 10 years. The police closed all the bars in Soi 6 for the day and there was nothing for the would be reformer and self publicist to see. About that time a City Councillor promised to clear Beach Road of ladies that rented by the hour. He said that he put put his reputation on achieving his target. His reputation????

Exactly. There is no article in the Law you linked that can be applied to the situation I described.

The guy writing the comment you quoted gives no source for his statement "Prostitution is clearly illegal".

Many do that mistake.

The Bangkok Post some years ago ran a series of articles on Thai Law where two Thai attorneys came to the same conclusion as I did, i.e. the simple act of prostitution is not a breach of the Law.

In short:

Prostitution is not illegal outside "prostitution establishments"

Solicitation is illegal under most circumstances.

Procuration, promotion of and profiting from prostitution of third parties is illegal.
