At the end of this month i'll be travelling back home for a few weeks. I have a 20kg allowance of check in luggage. I won't be needing any of this, i'll only have carry on. The question is, what can i take back (legally) to sell online in the UK? Clothes are just as cheap in the supermarkets there. Electronics are fairly similarly priced, if not cheaper there..

I'm not looking to make serious money. I figure i'm allowed to take back 20kg which i don't need, so why not use it and make a small profit. Anybody got any ideas?wai.gif

Cigarettes, I took 10 cartons back a few years ago. Believe it or not, the customs at Heathrow checked my bags, found them and just waved me through. You might not be so lucky, but worth a try. Big profit to be made.

You may have to pay import taxes on goods you bring in.

worth looking into i suppose, not sure how strict they are...

When my Thai family and I used to live in the States and the UK, we took back jewellery with us and my wife used to sell the items to all her Thai friends. She made some big profits.

We always wore the jewellery while traveling, so had no problems with the customs and it was all legal.

Other stuff that was easy to carry and made us profits, was the cheap ladies jewellery purchased from the markets here. Always went down well back home.

And I won`t mention the fake Rolex watches and fake brand name stuff , because that would not be legal.

I hate to dissapoint you but people fill entire shipping containers with anything you might be bringing and they pay less for the items because they are buying in bulk . so whatever you might save with your free shipping angle will be lost by the fact that other people ar buying in bulk as paying a lot less than you.

The only items that do not have that problem would be items that are rare or unusual that you could not buy in bulk , Thai trinkets would not do the job but an Amulet that was blessed by a Famous monk that has passed on for example would. So your really best off considering rare collector items rather than commmon items.

  1. Spend an evening reviewing Ebay UK.
  2. Search for items for sale with the word "Thai" in the description.
  3. Have a look at the various items for sale and identify five or six sellers who run shops selling stuff out of Thailand.
  4. Go to their shops and click on their feed back.
  5. From their feedback you can check what items sell most frequently.
  6. You can also check if these items fit your budget and weight limitations.
  7. PM me so I can send you my invoice.

I'm sure she would fetch a pretty penny, Dave2. Unfortunately, I doubt if UK customs would be too understanding, even if she COULD get all the necessary papers.

Goji berries, can be bought in sealed packets quite cheaply in Chinatown. 'Miracle' dried fruit that was ridiculously overpriced in the UK a few years ago. Maybe not such a big mark-up these days but you were asking for ideas.
