Simple answer is that sending more than 50 cigarettes to the UK by post is illegal, unless you arrange to pay tax and VAT which makes the 'fags' dearer than in the shops in UK. You can try sending by post or EMS but you stand a reasonable chance of either getting them confiscated by Thai customs, getting confiscated by UK customs or having them held by Royal Mail until the taxes are paid in UK.

Duty free is a farce:

Marlbro lites

UK DF A$52

SYD DF A$32

BKK Tesco A$15 :D

A while back there was a report in the press on the level of tax collected on "Duty Free"

items sold at the airports in Thailand..........

I believe it was 30%. :o

Last time at DM, Lites were 20bt (a carton of 200) cheaper than Tesco.

JING JING - Dont do it, I had a friend send some over. 1st time they got to me AOK 2nd time a knock on the door and the post office wanted £138 vat. Sent them away, only to be visited later that week by a team of UK customs & excise officers with a warrent to search my house. So unless you want all the grief DONT DO IT. JING JING
