I'm sure the definitive answer exists somewhere but after four hours I've decided to give up and ask.

I'm an unmarried British national and I've been in Thailand for sometime on multiple entry business visa with work permit.

Every 90 days I go back to Cambodia for 10 seconds to get another stamp and I'm sick of it now.

Is there any way to get a year here and just do the 90 day notification at local immigration office instead (retirement/marriage NOT viable options)

Thanks and apologies if this has been explained already.

As said if you and company qualify you can extend your stay one year at a time at the immigration office serving your location for 1,900 baht.

I Work for an export company, Just a standard work permit. It does have "WP.11" at the top left of the cover.

What are the conditions to qualify? I will probably just take all documents required for work permit and see how I get on, but immigration officials have little time for people that don't know what thery're doing.

I did find this which is sort of helpfull http://www.pattayacityexpatsclub.com/expats/docs/ExtendingStay.pdf

Lastly the mention of re-entry permit. As I have a multiple entry visa Does this mean I don't need to obtain one. Or do you need a multiple entry for the visa AND a re-entry permit for the extention of stay?

If you are on an extension of stay you need a re-entry permit to travel and return - use of a visa would be a 90 day stay only. Depending on nationality there will be a minimum salary you must have and company will need a years tax records (for them) to allow extension of stay but for most people much easier than having to make visa runs (unless you frequently travel anyhow). Basic requirements are listed in 305/2551 as below:

2.1 In the case of business 1. Application form

necessity, for example, the applicant 2. Copy of applicant’s passport

must stay to carry out work for a 3. Certificate of alien’s employment in the format prescribed by the Immigration Bureau

company or partnership: 4. Copy of work permit (in the case of change of workplace, an acknowledgment of application

Each permission shall be granted may be used)

for no more than one year. 5. Copy of evidence proving company registration, such as a certificate of company or partnership

registration, certified by the registrar within the previous six months

6. Copy of list of shareholders certified by the registrar within the previous six months

7. Copy of balance sheet and profit and loss statement for the latest year, together with income tax

return for companies or juristic partnerships and payment receipt

8. Copy of latest monthly withholding income tax return specifying the names of employees and of

the alien applicant together with a copy of payment receipt

9. Copy of the individual income tax return for the latest year and payment receipt (if any)

10. Copy of social security contribution return for the latest month, as filed with the Social Security

Office (Form Sor Por Sor.1-10) and payment receipt

11. Document or evidence proving the necessity of the business to hire the alien, for example, in

case a job opening was posted for Thai candidates but there were no applicants

12. Location map showing the applicant’s workplace and photographs of interior and exterior of the

workplace during business hours

13. Documents or other evidence requested by the Committee monitoring official proceedings of

officers of the Immigration Bureau

14. For an international trade business (representative office), regional office, and overseas company

(branch office), documents specified in Criteria 6, 7, and 11 are not required.

An income of 50,000 baht a month is a requirement for an extension of stay.

If you don't get that, forget it.

A re-entry permit is only needed if you have an extension of stay and want to leave the country. Not if you have a still valid visa and leave every 90 days.

Thanks very much, My salary is not 50,000 but the company pays the tax to make it look as though it is (for easy work permit application). Worth a shot I guess, I really don't want to go back to cambodia if at all possible.

Under 2. 1 it gives the documents you and your employer must submit for the extension of stay.

I'm confused again. By extension of stay I mean staying in Thailand but not doing anymore visa runs. I don't need to extend my visa yet. I want to be able to report every 90 days instead of doing a visa run every 90 days. Is this possible? I would look to go to the immigration office at Pak Nam, Samutprakan.

Posted

If you are here on multi entry visa the max stay is 90 days. You do not have an option to report to immigration or leave - you must leave to get a new 90 day entry. To extend for one year you need to meet the immigration requirements as above and then you only have to report your address to immigration every 90 days that you remain in Thailand.

Posted

Right, so I need the new visa in order to avoid visa runs. I've still got about 4 months left on my visa, do you recon I would have issues making the application early?

You can apply for extension during the last 30 days of any of your 90 day permission to stay.
