Hello

I got my first double entry 60 days tourist visa in Laos now.

I was wondering, if i need to go outside Thailand (for business) and return, when i return to Thailand, would they stamp this as my second entry, and as such, effectively shorten the total visa time from 180 days to a few month (depending on when i need to travel)

Anyone can explain this to me?

Yes that is exactly how it is intended to be used - it is not intended to provide a long term stay. If you want to continue using the current permitted to stay on any entry you must buy a re-entry permit prior to leaving, costing 1,000 baht.

anyone know if there is any limit to how many of these re-entry permits i can buy?

Also, where can i buy it? :)

Thanks in advance

On a tourist visa? many re entries? What you have the tourist visa for?

Check how long your double entry visa is valid. (Last entry possible 'use before')

The re-entry permit is keeping the original ending date alive, for your actual permission of stay.

So it would keep the 60 days, or the 30 days, or the 60 days or the 30 days (tourist, 2 entry, 2 extensions).

But: Are you leaving this many times by road? or by plane?

Every time by plane gets you 30 days, anyway

Every single re-entry permit cost 1000, a multiple re-entry 3800.

You can buy as many re-entry permits as you want. A single is 1,000 baht and a multiple is 3,800 baht.

But a re-entry permit only keeps you current permission to stay alive, it doesn't add any days. If you are allowed to stay till March 28 and you leave the country on Feb 1, returning on Feb 8 you would be stamped back into Thailand till March 28 again.
