Bt2 Trillion Plan Raises Fears Of Graft: Thailand

Featured Replies

"Bt2 trillion plan raises fears of Graft"

I would like to use this opportunity to propose to set up a fully independent commission with full discretionary budgettary powers to supervise the allocation, disbursement and spending of the 2tr. Furthermore to highten the status of this commission in the eyes of all (who matter) and the lenders of course, I will voluntary make myself available as foreign, non-binding advisory member of this committee. As such I only expect to see my simple expenses incurred on duty paid for plus a yearly fee of THB 1 to dot legal i's and stroke T. thumbsup.gif

I would propose, that since any form of organised government has been around in Thailand, that the standard clip has been 20 to 30 % irrespective of which side any of them have been on.

I await anyone to prove me wrong.

I probably understand what you mean and under that assumption can agree.

Still the 'prove me wrong' is not correct logically, unless you can prove me wrong when I state that the moon is partially made out of blue cheese wink.png

I only ask because we are reliably informed that this government is so much corrupt than any previous. They have all been at it forever in my Opinion. So please anyone prove me wrong

On the other hand there's "Caesar's wife must be above suspicion." Or as we say in my country, she not only should be above suspicion, she should even look to be above suspicion.

The emergency 350 billion for water management projects that noone seems to know where did they ended up and the secret government to government rice deals (not to mention the whole shebang) are just two examples of Caesar's wife looking rather slutty.

Is it safe to assume there will be no additional funding (B2 bill year at the moment) for waste water, garbage and pollution control within this decade?

These particular items above are the polluting factors that emanate from the current maladministration and its rhetoric, waste liquid and more than enough solid bovine fecal matter water and of course flatulence therefore of course no funds will be made available to deal with the aforementioned problems.

Never in the history of Thailand have so many people been charged so much by so few people so as to line the pockets of those few people.

My apologies to Sir Wiston Churchill for the modification of one of his quotes

And do you have one iota of proof to support your rather serious allegation of severe corruption ???

Just one, perchance ?

If so, please show.

Where you been Phil welcome back. Yingluck is in dire need of your support.

Rumor is she is starting to believe what she says.

I was wondering when they get the plan all set up if Thaksin will receive a copy of the route before it is made public.

That would be in keeping with his past ways.

Has there been a study done to chow the Financial worth of the Project?whistling.gif

Thats easy. The PTP Commerce Minister has admitted to it. Is that proof enough? Or is that not Philw's definition of severe corruption? Of course not.

Oh yeh, and finance minister Kittiratt did as well. http://www.thaivisa....cheme-thailand/

Yes but Kittiratt could be right he might have been not telling the truth when he said that. Remember he says it is OK to lie to the people.

Off topic but pertinent to your post.

The moon is partially made out of blue cheese so that the man in ther moon will have some thing to eat and since he is partial to Blue Cheese it is so.wai2.gif

It seems the "big boss", former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra, has made preparations for these various transport mega-projects. Thaksin has had Chadchart Sittipunt, whom he trusts, promoted from the position of deputy transport minister to become transport minister. Chadchart is known to be an expert in handling infrastructure projects.

So they admit Taksin is in charge. Glad that is cleard up.

Chadchart is known to be an expert in handling infrastructure projects and maybe an expert at siphoning too I bet.

Today my Thai wife got mad at me because I was yelling at another driver for rolling down his window and throwing a plastic cup and a bottle out the window. She says you can't change them so why cause trouble. I said that is the problem with this country, too stupid to complain. So now she is even madder. We all know that out of the 2 trillion about 500 million will be spent on projects the rest will end up in somebodys pockets. The flood budgent certainly didn't get spent on flood control. But Thai's will just accept it.

have to agree, my wife does/tells me the same thing, she says it is the way thais are and that they cant change. As long as no one rocks the boat they will never change what they do, they just dont give a dam_n about their country as long as they get what they want, trouble is the only ones that seem to see all the faults and want to do something about them are the farangs, thais just dont give a sh*t.

Please take this as tongue in cheek but I presume you both have houses? In the wife's name? Now who's stupid?

In our town, the guy who signs off the contracts for road repairs/resurfacing etc in the town and surrounding area just arrived at school yesterday in an 8 million baht Mercedes. He has also just bought a 20 Mill baht palace outside town. Bearing in mind he is a government worker on a government salary, you would think he would be a little more subtle with the 'wind falls' from his position. His wife was proudly telling my wife as they waited for the kids that her husband will make sure that their son gets the 'right' position in the local Government roads office and follows in Daddy's footsteps!!! The son is 5 poor little sod! His career is already mapped out. For some reason the Thai's just tolerate this completely open theft of public money.

Agreed, but the wife is a good person, I have never had a problem like that with any woman. Of course that could change anytime but as I see it my children need a good home so it would not be a great loss to me and the wife isn't likely to piss away something of value.

Anti-Corruption Network follows up on 2 trillion baht project: Thailand

So this newly formed, very small staffed group is going to try and police this massive fraud project?

Anti-Corruption Network follows up on 2 trillion baht project: Thailand

So this newly formed, very small staffed group is going to try and police this massive fraud project?

The group was probably formed in 2011, but has got a reasonable status as private sector group. Although some have written "long known for links to Abhisit and the Yellow Shirts movement", we also have

"2012-09-23

The growing coalition against corruption in Thailand got a major boost today, Thursday, 23 August when the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Anti-Corruption Network signed a partnership declaration at the Sathornthani Center of Rangsit University."

You are correct, the ACN was formed in 2011 and from what I read does in fact lean towards AV and the yellow shirts. This seems to make the independent watch dog group, sum what suspect and with little respect IMO. There are of course other anti corruption groups, and no doubt with political leaning. So I can safely assume this will turn into another disaster as many of the populous schemes have.

Probably more correct to say some members/founders of ACN have leanings towards the opposition party Democrats or just to the PAD. Mind you, the group tackles 'current' corruption, not previous. We would have to wait a while to see what the group would do when there's a change of government.wai.gif

Correct again, forgive me for not making that clear. As for waiting for the next govt. and considering recent history, I will assume there will be a drastic subtle change to the 60% debt ratio in current Thai law in the distant future.

If the ACN was formed in 2011 I would expect some corruption uncovered and halted is that the case or are they just sucking money out of the government. (like most government employes)
