Treasure Hunting In Thailand

Featured Replies

Has anyone heard any stories, legends, or myths about pirates and beaches and buried treasure on southern Thailand islands? There doesn't seem to be any good info on the internet.

My lad could make some up for you, if you like, but the dinosaurs might stretch credibility

Many years ago there were many storys about buried gold and treasures in the jungle of Kanchanaburi, buried by the Japanese in the second world war.

Many people looked for it, nobody found anything, so go for it

The pirates are still keeping an eye on their buried treasures. They are wearing brown uniforms these days.

At the beach in Hua Hin, sometimes there are people searching the sandy beach with metal detectors. Maybe it would be a good idea to walk up and ask them what they are searching for, if not for Baht coins they might hunt for jewelry lost by tourists . . .

I dunno, there may be. However, I would think even if you found it though, the scavenger rights may not be the same as in the West. I think in Thailand mineral rights (like if you find gold or oil on your land) belongs to the Kingdom, so if you found buried treasure it would probably belong to the Kingdom as well. I could be wrong.

What do you think Shinawatra took out of the country in all those planes?

I believe the natives go treasure hunting in sukumvhit
