When I married a local girl in Bangkok I needed proof of eligibility to marry and translation from Cultural affairs.

I am about to divorce and plan to remarry, again a local girl.

Do I only need the divorce paper from my local Amphur office? Or do I need all the UK paperwork as well?

Thanks for any help.

You might need the paper work (affirmation for marriage) again, as it has a section that says "I have never been married / am divorced / am widowed" and then you need to provide documentation of your divorce etc.

You will require the divorce papers, which need to take to the Embassy no translations required. Then a complete new Affirmation to marry, and all the leg work again.

beano2274, you mean that I take a form issued by a Thai government office to the UK embassy to be certified, then take to cultural affairs office for affirmation again ?

I should not need the old UK divorce papers as these were superceeded by the first affirmation.

Surely i only need the thai marriage divorce papers.

Hope you can make this clear for me,cheers

Marrying again means you need a new affirmation letter from your embassy, have it translated into Thai and taking that letter to the Consular Department and then going to the amphur.

At the amphur you will need your divorce certificate, to be turned in for exchange of a marriage certificate.

Not sure about which divorce decrees the embassy wants to see, old and new or only the new one.

Correct assumption re- only needing the current Thai marriage annulment papers to be sighted and certified by the nice people at the UK mission on Wittayu. You won't need copies of the past UK marriage annulment paperwork. However, if serial husbandry is going to be a feature in your life, it would be best to keep a copy of all annulments since this being LOS, rules and regulations can change and copies of legacy stuff may be required. Also, consider the possibilities of getting married in the future to a lass from some other country in some other country and they may need to see copies of the lot.

Good luck!
