Settlement Visa For Wife For Uk , Questions Etc .......

Recommended Posts

Hello Folks , need a bit of advice ,

Whats the time frame for booking an appointment for submitting the docs at vfs , im just trying to workout rough dates for our Travel to Bangkok after i complete the online application ,

Is it only done by prebooking or can we just turn up and submit info, bio metrics, etc ?

Also i cant seem to see any where for a signature on financial requirement appendix 2 ?

Finally does anyone have any info about how we book for the Passport and docs to be returned to my wifes home address ?

Thanks

You can book an appointment to submit the application at any time, either before, during or after completing the application form, but as Bifftastic says, only up to a week ahead. You can, however, reschedule an appointment a couple of times if necessary.

The Appendix 2 is not signed.

When your wife submits her application, and biometrics, she will be asked where she wants the passport sent. I think they now charge around 400 THB for the passport to be sent by EMS to any address.

What happens regarding the expected travel date if you decide to travel a month later , does the visa start from the expected travel date ?

Im asking cause its sometimes difficult to get time off work at short notice , and ill only know whether i need the time off if the visa is passed or not but that could take up to three months

Thanks

There is no problem with her traveling later than originally stated in the application as far as being allowed entry is concerned. But it will cause problems later if she delays travel for more than 3 months.

The visa will be valid from the date of issue and will be valid for 33 months, but the residential qualifying period for the next stage is 30 months; therefore she will have up to 3 months in which to first use it enter the UK.

If she delays travel for more than three months after the visa's start date then it will expire before she has lived in the UK for 30 months and so she will need an expensive extension to cover the gap.

If it is likely that she will be unable to travel within 3 months of the visa being issued, she can ask for the start to be post dated for up to 3 months; but if she does so she cannot use the visa until the requested start date.

She needs to have been a UK resident for 30 months before she can apply for the next stage. This period begins on the day she first uses her visa to enter the UK.

She then applies to extend her stay a further 30 months, and at the end of this (5 years in total) she can apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain.

She is allowed out of the UK during these periods and time spent out of the UK will not be added onto or increase them.

The periods are based on dates; so if she first entered, for example, on 1/1/13 she could apply for the next stage at any time between 1/7/15 (actually, she could apply 28 days before this) and the day her visa expired. Holidays etc. outside the UK wont affect this.

However, at each stage she will need to show that she is a UK resident, which may be difficult to do if she has spent more time in Thailand than the UK.

Tuberculosis testing in Thailand

If the test is positive

If the x-ray shows signs of infection, the clinic will perform other tests to find out whether you have infectious TB. This testing may require you to return on 3 consecutive days.

If you have TB, the IOM will not give you a certificate and you will not be able to apply for a visa until you have been cured. The IOM will give you advice and tell you how to get treatment. A full course of treatment usually takes 6 months. After you have been cured, you will need to pay for another TB test, if this test shows that you are free of infectious TB, the IOM will give you a certificate and you can apply for a visa.
