Marriage "o" Savanvegas. Reporting Or Border Run?

Recommended Posts

Got my "Marriage O" by way of Savan Vegas Casino on Nov. 15 last year. The 90 days are almost up (13. Feb.) Having gotten it in Laos do I have to do a border-run (Poipet) or can I just do a 90 day report in Thailand?

Thanks & cheers.

You can a 90 Day report only if you got a YEAR extension from Immigration, if you only got the visa at the Savanakhet consulate and you didn't go to Immigration to apply for the Year extension of stay, you have to leave the country before the 90 days are up and thus do a Visa Run.

Question do you have a Multiple or a Single Entry Non-O Visa ??

Edit: //

In short

Visa from Consulate and didn't visit immigration to Apply for extension of stay: --> Visa Run

Visa from Consulate and visit immigration to Apply for extension of stay and got Approved: --> 90 Day Report

But if you meet the financials, if male, of 400k in bank two months or 40k per month income you can visit immigration during the last 30 days of any 90 day entry with wife and the normal paperwork to apply for one year extension of stay and then all you would have to do is 90 day address reports to immigration.

Can not go the route by way of Thai-Immigration. (Wife will stay in Europe for some time to come). Have multiple-entry 1 year visa. (Issued Nov. 15). So it's not an extension of the 1 year visa itself, but just the 90 day ritual. But I am not shure if the 90 day rituals also are a form of extention of an existig visa. (A headache is coming up).

- After expiration of the multiple entry 1 year-visa (and has to be renewed/ or EXTENDED), the following 90 day rituals would therefore have to be called extensions of a visa-extension. (An extension of an extension). I hope this is not the case. Otherwise, if I ever should end up in a mental institution, at least I would know why!wink.png

Cheers.

You have a multi entry visa and must exit every 90 days for a new entry and 90 day stay. You can do this at any border crossing by exit and entry into another country and then exit and return to Thailand. There are regular van trips from popular locations just for this or you can do yourself and maybe make it a visit to another country for a few days it you want. If you wife is still not in Thailand you would have to obtain a new visa to continue after the current visa expires.

@swissie, in this post I try to explain the difference between Visa / Extension of Stay for you !

If your Multiple Non-0 Visa has expired (Passed the "Enter before date"), it doesn't have any real value anymore (Maybe only sentimental). After it has expired, you can get an temporary extension at immigration, 7 Days or 60 days (because you are married) (But you only can do this once !!)

After that extension finishes, and you wanna stay longer in Thailand, the only thing what you can do is, you have to apply for a new Visa at a consulate or Embassy outside of Thailand.

But if you follow the procedure which Lopburi3 explained in Post #3, you can get an extension at immigration to stay for 1 year. (You only have to report your Address every 90 Days (Local Immigration)).

If that year has ended, you can go and apply for another extension (another Year) at immigration and this you can keep on doing for years and years on end (Only of course if you keep meeting the requirements)

Example:

My Multiple Non-O Visa expired in August 2011, but I applied for an extension at my local immigration in July 2011. After approval, I got a stamp "allowed to stay until July 2012".

In June 2012 (my original visa had already expired) I applied for a new extension of stay and got a new stamp, I was allowed to stay until July 2013.

As you can see, my original Non-O Visa isn't valid anymore (expired August 2011) but I can legally stay in Thailand until July 2013.

If in the meantime I want to go back to Europe, I just go to Immigration and get a so called "Re-Entry Permit".

I hope this explains it a bit for you !

Thanks, my question(s) are answered. I shall cancel my room-reservation at the local mental-institution first thing tomorrow morning.biggrin.png

"...or 60 days (because you are married) (But you only can do this once !!)"

It can't be done twice in a row, but can be done again after another entry.

I believe the wife would be required to be there, since it's to visit her, so not practical in the OP's current situation.

Same with a one year extension = wife required to attend when applying.
