streetfoodhelp
I recently travelled in Bangkok and ate some noodle from a vendor near suk11. She was situated near a pretty nice looking backpackers hotel. In any case, she cooked this dish, which was similar to pad thai but cooked differently. Instead of stir frying the noodles, she actually soaked the noodle in some kind of broth in the wok. It's supposed to be a variant of pad thai but I just forgot the name. If anyone has any ideas, please met know. Thanks!!!
Radar501
From your description, the dish may be rard na (ราดหน้า)
craigt3365
I'll move this over to the food forum. There are soooooo many noodle dishes here. I was at a place yesterday that specialized in Chiang Mai noodle dishes. Must have had 50 different dishes. Fantastic!!
sikishrory
yeh it may be lard na as someone else said but that is more of a soup. I may be wrong but it sounds like what you might have seen was her adding some tamarind water and then cooking the noodles in that. real phad thai should have tamarind in it but most people either use phad thai sauce or a mix of chilli sauce, oyster and dark soy. with a heap of chicken msg
kurnell
I had pad thai without the noodles 16 years ago.
