I know that last September the were still using the old planes and the cabins still without seat back IFE etc. Anyone done the trip more recently and know if they have completed the upgrades or stuck any new planes on ?

The ticket is still expensive and the service terrible. I find Thai domestic cabin staff far superior. I suspect they have to work up to the long haul international flights and many have been doing it for too long.

Thai is on my list to avoid/

If you want a decent airline try Singapore or Emirates A380 long haul.

Thanks guys.

Jay, I know where your coming from regards service etc.

I posted this as BKK-LHR in error, in terms of the question it remains the same even though I will be doing it the other way around BKK.LHR>BKK

Ticket prices more interesting at the moment, I'm looking at dates in early July for which Thai is coming in at £593, Eva at £580, Qatar £590....QR has a long stopover, wife has "issues" with EVA, they bumped her once and she ain't ever going to fly 'em again, so thought I would check out Thai. Strange that I'm getting better prices on direct flights or on decent airlines like Qatar than I am on less well regarded airlines .....

i fly thai several times a year LHR-BKK and have found the service very good...the cabin crew are out lively with the drinks and food, and unlike a lot of other airlines, the food is also collected lively and more drink's offered, also throughout the flight they're always walking down the aisle's with soft drinks.

the plane's have been updated and you can also dig out some reasonable fare's if you look around.

apart from the service, the main thing that swings it for me is going to sleep and waking up in bkk without having too change plane's.

Have been looking for May, found Thai Airways very expensive (can choose between LHR or BRS), but KLM looks a good bet for me. Traveling from Bangkok to the UK, then back from Italy to BKK.

Actually the Alitalia website gives the best prices using KLM to the UK and Etihad from Italy.

Also noticed this about KLM and the same flights I want so that swings it for me.
