February 9, 201313 yr Batteries contain harmful metals and chemicals that can leak into our air and water supply when they are dumped into the trash. I would be grateful if anyone here can guide me to the least environmentally damaging way to dispose an old mobile phone battery (or other batteries) here in Bangkok?
February 9, 201313 yr Bung it in Saen Saeb canal like everyone else. Could be wrong, but believe the yellow bins are for metals, batteries and stuff which will be sorted through. Just don't drive to one in a tuk-tuk.
February 10, 201313 yr here in my area is no separation of junk ....everything goes in the same bin Edited February 10, 201313 yr by h90
February 10, 201313 yr I live near Fortune Town mall. Since around half a year ago they have put sets of recycling bins (paper, plastic and cans, and electronics). Crossing the road there is also Central Rama 9 where they also have put this kind of bins. I asked some time ago here and someone told me it was poasible to dispose electronics in some amphurs and in some universities as well. Thanks for doing the right thing Sandeep :-)
February 10, 201313 yr http://www.nationmultimedia.com/business/Mobile-battery-for-life-30187688.html Some schools also have battery recycling bins. Also some shops in Panthip and Fortune Town have these bins, and I've seen them in Seacon.
February 10, 201313 yr Haven't looked in a long time, but I do remember seeing specific battery disposal bins at Thammasat University in the student cafeteria area. Probably still there, or nearby, and likely at other universities.
February 10, 201313 yr Ask a local where they dispose of their used batteries.... Oh no, umm actually that might be a waste of time. If you know of any local car battery shops just take them there next time you pass, im sure they can help. Loads of these shops in my area, although im not in BKK.
February 10, 201313 yr There is a battery recycling bin in Tesco, Bangplad. It is next to one of the mobile phone shops.
February 10, 201313 yr I just throw them on the rubbish pile at the street corner. No one ever notices them behind the Cobalt 60 rods.
