New Bts Nrt Lines

Featured Replies

Sorry folks, if this has been addressed on an earlier topic.

I am trying to view what the ultimate plan is for the BTS and MRT expansion lines are in Bangkok. I checked on Wikipedia but the maps seem to be missing some crucial lines.

For example, in my neighborhood, they are woking aggressively on Charansanitwong Road which looks like an elevated train line. But it is hard to see how it will pass the "35 Bowl" intersection near Central Pinklao. It then seems to continue westward to the Tha Pra intersection.

Does anyone have a link to the master plan which can be superimposed on a Google map of streets to see where all these extensions will go and at about what date they will be completed by?

Much appreciated.

Thanks Ripstanley but those posts cover a two-year period in the past. Is there no current link to the Bangkok master plan for the BTS MRT extensions? This has important implications for choosing a residence and property values. There must be something that only requires a few Web clicks

This interests me also. I see they are building an underground station near Pak Khlong Dalat where the train then goes under the river, but where does it come up on the other side? Does it then go above ground, or stay underground? Some maps and up to date info would be great.

This is the master plan:

LOL, no it is not!!!

You link urbanrails (a great site btw) map of opened lines and current construction stating that "this is the Master Plan"!!! Wow. Did you even bother to look at the site you linked which clearly lists 5 lines that are planned but which are not on the map??? Remind me not to ask you for accurate up to date mapping or GPS info.

The thread that you need is

It has the OTP Master Plan (see 3 pages back) and an update of all lines under construction and planned (1 page back). It is update as appropriate and all are welcome to post any general or specific queries in that thread. The aim is to keep TVers informed and provide accurate, up to date info as best one can given the dysfunctional nature of mass transit planning & development in Bangkok.

The line you asked about in the OP is the Blue line extension which is an extension of the current subway. There is a map of the extension in that thread. To answer your other query, it will pass over the PATA / Pinklao intersection at a height of some 10 storeys! Not ideal but give that there are two elevated roads and the recently opened underpass it was probably the only option (all due to a lack of integrated planning).

Any more queries, pls feel free to ask on that thread, there are a few TVers are can answer you.

I think that you are referring to the flower market near the Memorial bridge but then there is no current line being built in that area (in future years the Purple Line will run underground N-S past this area).

The only line currently being built currently which will run underground under the river is the Blue Line ext which continues underground for 4.8km from Hualumphong west to Tha Phra before it surfaces and then runs elevated along Phetkasem road for 8.5kms. The two TBMs started tunneling from Hualumphong just last month.

Check the thread with all the info linked above. If you still have queries pls ask there and I can post the exact route of the tunnel for you.
