Metapod
As the title says. I'm looking for the best android app for reading and writing Thai. I am always messing around on my phone during the day and usually just mess around online or play games. I figure i can put this time to productive use and hopefully there is a good reading/writing app I can work through. I am at beginner level. Any suggestions?

canuckamuck
You can download Ankidroid and then get some of the Thai decks.
mania
Best by far in my opinion which you will need http://word-in-the-h...android_ov.html Not specific in teaching reading & writing but it is correct & has some great help sections which are very valuable in themselves. You can click any word that you look up in English or Thai script or sound & select explain spelling, tone rules etc. Their Help Section has a Reading & Writing sub-section that is full of info you need. Consonants, Consonant Clusters, Vowels & Syllables, etc. Aside from that you can get various alphabet, vowels & Tones programs to help you learn as that is where your reading & writing will start. Some that I like are Thai Flash https://play.google....XNoY2FyZHMiXQ.. Memolicious https://play.google....3VzLnRoYWkiXQ.. Paroofczak
Hi, I am using LingLing Learn Thai for about a month right now and I must say it is pretty cool. It allows my to learn 40 new Thai words each day of learning. You can download it for free: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.hepilabs.lingling.thai&feature=search_result&hl=en Have fun!

I second all of this. I've been using the Talking Thai app for more than 6 months and I still pretty much use it everyday here. It is much more than just a dictionary and has help sections and some courses. It also breaks down any word or phrase into it's component parts so you can see what words make up the compound word or explain the tone or the spelling of a word which is helpful for irregular tone rules or spellings..Also I never realised at first that it is made by Benjawan Poomsan Becker who is the author of the "Thai for Beginners/Intermediate" which is what I started to learn Thai with. 2 thumbs up from me. I think if you actually did any legwork of your own and also listened to the guy who was trying to help you, you would find out that the app he is explaining does do what you want. jspill
I also use the TalkingThai app on a daily basis, it's pretty expensive at nearly 1k baht but well worth it. It has more slang, rare and 'cool' words than any other dictionary
