I think we are getting a big overlap with the "Street and Roads" thread. Can we take a look at the OP (quoted below)?

"Wikipedia:- Street photography is a type of photography that features subjects in candid situations within public places such as streets, parks, malls, and other settings.
Street photography often tends to be ironic and can be distanced from its subject matter, and often concentrates on a single human moment, caught at a decisive or poignant moment."

Just a thought! wink.png

^^^ Spot on Rob...thumbsup.gif

Let's do our best to stay within that definition folks.

I know it's easy to stray...but let's try our best OK.

There are excellent examples on earlier pages

of this thread for your references.

Let's get the topic back on to what it's supposed to be as well as polite towards others. The definition has been posted here many times, that if you are unsure, please check the OP.

Discussions about domains etc. can be done directly between members by personal messenger.

Quite honestly I think it makes it too fussy..... we have the "street scenes" , why start another similar thread....? same same but different!!! ? wink.png

If the rules get too complicated, I think some will loose interest!

My opinion !!!!

The answer I can do was made already by samuijimmy...

It's also my opinion .

( Wikipedia isn't evangile's words ...)

I know I'm not diplomat in my words - difficult to change at 66 y old - so sometimes rude answers . wai2.gif.pagespeed.ce.goigDuXn4XDSXeTygv

OK...

Street Photography isn't pix of streets. It isn't pix of tires on street curbs.

It isn't pix of monks inside a wat or other building (sorry Goomps). It

isn't pix of a lotta things on streets. It is pix of people or events on streets

or near streets that involve people and sometimes animals plus the

ambience (or lack thereof) when the pic was taken. If there is none of this

in the foreground then it's just a street/road shot. It must show movement,

action, amazement, stun, or just apathy and the lack of emotion or the

overflow of emotion...and many other "feelings" in one frame.

For example...Fimgirls pic of the feller having a nap while others in

the background are enjoying themselves conveys a feeling...just what

feeling it conveys is left up to the viewer. To me...time for a nap.

To you...whatever. The pic makes you think. Now what you think is

up to you...

When HCB took that infamous pic of a guy jumping over a puddle

what did he think? I always ask myself that. In one way I think it is

a candidate for the worlds most boring photo, in another way I think

it's <cut> brilliant. Many other people also think the latter. Why?

Up to you.

A long time ago I got my start in photography doing "People

Pictures" and it just so happened that the people I photographed

were on the sidewalks, streets, lanes, alleys, paths...etc wherever

I was at when I took the pix. Time goes by and a genre comes

into play...Street Photography. Maybe this genre of photography

had a name before I knew about it...I don't know...I don't keep up

with names of things since that changes often & in some

circumstances too often (take the genre's of Rock n Roll for

example)...or chili sauce.

To me...street photography equals the photography of life and how

we live it....the good...the bad...the ugly.

And there must be either people or animals in it.

Otherwise...it is just a road shot.

What is "Street Photography"? To many it is just a theory...and I'm

inclined to believe this.

@ Sunshine

Great post! Thanks.

For me, that (and fimgirl's latest posts) light a fire under my seat, and makes this thread one I'd like to get involved in, despite being way out of my depth here. Generally, landscapes are my forte (if I actually have one at all), but I have got to get into the human side much more. I've recently been out and bought a new pocket camera (Canon SX700HS) for those unexpected moments, and this might just be the impetus I need to use it and open up to new experiences.....Who knows, I might even post a pic here, but only so long as it is not near one of fimgirl's!! biggrin.png

Thanks, guys!
