mangoman007
Does anyone know how to go about obtaining a very fast digital or ADSL line? All the apartments say "high speed internet" but they are really quite slow. TOT commercial line? True? Or are there some buildings with digital lines? Thanks! Dork
Your options for ultra high speed (faster than ADSL) in BKK are VDSL or DOCSIS from TRUE or FTTH (Fibre Optic) from either TOT or 3BB. Yes some buildings, but not very many, have digital lines (VDSL). Apart from asking neighbours or building managers the only way to know for sure is to call the providers and ask them. In the case of calling TOT, you'll need to first get past the person who's job it is to say "no, don't have". Depending on where you live, the available options are changing pretty fast.
nikster
3BB just rolled out their fiber optic lines in Chiang Mai. 30Mbit for 1200 baht is pretty amazing. They won't say how much it would cost but they claim they offer "up to 1000 Mbit". That's a Gigabit?! 100Mbit / 20M upload is 25k baht though so I am guessing 1GBit will be kinda pricey... candypants
We are looking to co-rent (sub lease) office space in central Bangkok for a high-tech start up. Anyone have any ideas?i would set up a few lines and a load balancing switch. for example true docsis 50/5 True 20mbps adsl. with tru adsl and docsis combined would provide a truly robust connection. and perhaps something from another provider. redundancy is the only way forward, as any one in IT should well know.
